This is a great tamper for the price. I have an inexpensive espresso machine and so was reluctant to splurge on accessories. Unless you want to buy those spring tamper, which costs more obviously, this is will definitely do the job. Fits my portafilter nicely and is heavy enough. Definitely an upgrade from those plastic scoop tampers. Will improve your coffee workflow.

I purchased this a few months ago and have used it a few times daily. I still occasionally notice what a fine tool it is.It is very pleasing to handle. The weight is spot on and well balanced. The finish on the handle is smooth but retains the feeling of wood.I would not hesitate to give this as a gift. It has a very elegant feel to it and I get the impression it will last forever.

I was using an inferior plastic tamper prior to this and it was my first metal one. I figure for the price, what could go wrong? Well, this works wonders and ramps beautifully. My shots are much nicer and full of rich crema. I am blown away at the quality here for the price. The metal base does unscrew from the handle for cleaning if you are wondering. Everything is smooth and polished and has a good weight to it. I would have paid $20 for this no hesitation.

Very simple, yet elegant tool with an enjoyable heft to it. I paid more than the current price, so inflation isn't everywhere.The tamper is made very well, with smooth surfaces and a pleasant grip. It is heavy and should last many years.If you are still tamping espresso with a plastic contraption, this upgrade is definitely worth it.
