One failed within a month of use. Calibration trim pot is very difficult to use. the only thing right about these is the low price. look for other types.

I was able to install this doing a rebuild of a 40-year-old six amp battery charger.The original analog amp meter isn't accurate.These do not come with any instructions, but I did find the wiring instructions online, it works great.UPDATEUpon using battery charger on PU that was setting for 30 days meter read 13.5 v & 3.7aAfter 45 seconds this meter started to smoke and went blank . Litature says 5 amp capasity so I am disapointed .

Worked alright. Gives similar values to my bk precision power supply, although it's a little sluggish on the sample rate. The current sense circuit uses the same ground as the display power, so be sure to connect it between load and ground or it will short the circuit.

First off, I am not an electronics wizard, but I do know electricity. The wiring of this device is a little deceptive so make sure you understand the instruction for what the connections are. Oh, wait there are no instructions, and I didn't find a link to any. Maybe someone else can enlighten us on what the small black wire does besides smoke. So don't connect it to anything unless you know more than I do. I wired mine with a 9v battery to power the display (small red, heavy black). This will give you zeros. The yellow can go to the DC+ and heavy black to DC-, now you have voltage. Put your load between your power source and the heavy red to measure amperage. The switches are optional.I needed a small load test for UPS batteries. A 20-ohm power resistor (the load) at 12v (the battery) will give you .6 amps. After 5 minutes if your below 12v you have a weak UPS battery.Yes, it is a good value and if your needs are simple this is perfect. Just don't let the smoke out.

The ammeter works great, and it doesn't need a shunt which helps with one less thing to install on an application. You can adjust current and voltage with limitations. The one I am using is definitely off in accuracy. The voltage is off by about .6V and the current is off by about .5amps and you only could adjust within 1 whole number. Now that is not a big deal if you do not care about pinpoint accuracy but then again if you want exact measurements, you probably shouldn't be depending on a cheap piece of equipment.

IMHO... This meter is exactly what it is advertised as....and as its made of chinesium, it is cheap and easily broken and replaced. It does exactly what I needed it to do on my fuel polisher. Looks good, easy to read and bright. The only think I have to say bad about this is it comes with ZERO instructions and is easy to fry if you hook it up wrong. I found it best to go to a competitors amazon site and follow their wiring diagram. Lots of other reviewers have posted their version of instructions so I wont add to the confusion. If you are looking for a high quality easy to install and well supported product, go elsewhere. This is for people how have some knowledge of electronics and just need a quick and cheap meter display. I cant speak to accuracy if the meter as I only needed it to observe trends in voltage and amperage usage.

I gave this product five stars for the price and attractive bright red and blue display with nice frame. There appear to be multiple versions of this device out there that are similar inside using the DSN-VS288 board. I tested one unit and the volts appear to be fixed resolution at 0.1 V and 99.9 V full scale. The current is 0.01 A resolution and 9.99 A full scale. Voltage accuracy was pretty good but current reading seems off (too high). I got these for model train power monitoring and since train power packs are pulse power don't expect high accuracy or a steady display without some signal conditioning. Measuring a battery the display seems stable.

Thanks to previous reviewers, I took extra time and double checked the wiring before applying power. The instructions are OK, not great. In the end, they were accurate and the device is nice. The unit looks like it is made to insert into a standard size square hole in a car dashboard. My application is a little different, so I am struggling making the unit look correct when installed, but thats my fault, not the unit. The LEDs are bright and sharp. The unit looks accurate, or at least close enough for my application. I have a 12V power supply feeding multiple variable loads, and I want to know if/when I am hitting the limit of the supply in case things start to behave strangely. The price is hard to beat, and the unit does what it says it does. Now I just need to find a way to make a panel that I can use to mount it on a flat surface.

I was not expecting lab or even bench accuracy at this price so I am quite pleased. Both units work and the accuracy is good enough for my intended use, quick course setting of a bench supply voltage and easy to read monitoring of the approximate current drawn by the load. The displays are small, as expected, bright and clear. The accuracy is good enough because for most things +/- a few tens of millivolts is more than close enough. If the load/circuit under test application requires more accuracy I always connect a bench meter during adjustment and probably should be using a voltage reference supply rather than a bench supply.As another reviewer indicated, but for the lack of a small piece of paper I would give these 5 stars.-- These come with zero documentation. It would be most useful to at least provide minimal wiring instructions. Yes it is reasonably obvious, depending on your level of experience, but not completely and getting it wrong will smoke these devices. This is evidenced by some of the other reviews ;-) The upside is if you smoke one you haven't lost much but time if you don't have a spare.I would certainly and probably will buy these again for another project.
