About this item

  • [What You Get]: Every package contains 6 bottles of coliform/E. coli test kit for drinking water. It is a cost-friendly option that identifies water quality issues before gaining a severe health hazard.
  • [Simple To Use]: You just need to pour the water into the provided test tubes to see if the water changes color. You can then find out whether the water contains coliform bacteria (including E. coli) within 48 hours.
  • [Easy To Read]: It allows you to see what's in your water quickly. If the water turns yellow, it is safe and there are no harmful bacteria in the water. However, if the water turns green, it's highly likely that harmful bacteria are present, including E.coli or coliform bacteria.
  • [EPA-approved Method]: Some water is not regulated by the EPA, and it may cause serious diseases. With this test, you can check for bacteria according to official EPA standards, using a testing method they approve of.
  • [Widely Use]: Can be used to test the water in showers, wells, pipes, pools, or hot tubs to ensure total microbial levels are safe. You can test at home, saving you the time and money that other testing methods involve.

I hadn't used the well at my farmhouse for a while, so I thought I should give this a try. Excellent choice. This test kit is well made and easy to use. Just put in water, wait 48 hours, and get the result. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

Disclosure: This was sent to me for free via the Vine program. I did not receive monetary compensation to write this review, just the product itself.Picked these up as I'm going through a major spell of infections (curse my immunocompromised status) and I've been wondering if it's coming from the water where we live. Got the kit and decided to do a standard test and a control test with distilled water. Filled one cup according to the directions (and some other standards I looked up online) with distilled water and the other with tap water from a specific source and labeled both. I'm currently waiting for them to fully cook but the results are looking promising in that both haven't changed color yet so hopefully it means I'm in the clear. They're an easy to use, compact kit to test a single source of water but, personally, I feel the price is a bit high per cup ($9.99 for a two cup kit). If it was a little less expensive, I'd say purchase these but you can get other kits on here with more cups for less of a price per cup. All told, they work well enough and give me the results I need in a easy to use, easy to understand, and efficient test. Partial recommend.

I tested water from three different sources. Our tap water, my filtered water and our nasty dirty cows walk through river, dog swim in it, and trash is thrown into it water. All three had yellow which is no bacteria results. There was no difference in color. between the three jars. So I am questioning if these water tests are at all accurate.

We have a well and thus need to get it tested at regular intervals for bacteria. This is so much easier and less expensive than sending it out to a lab.Easy to use, only takes 24 hours, easy to decipher the results. If it stays yellow, it’s fine. If it turns green, you have bacteria. We test from multiple places, so we need multiple tests. This one came two to a box. Very handy.

This water test kit for bacteria comes with 2 tests. I wanted to check our well water at the ranch and was able to do so a few days ago. It's very easy to perform the test. Each bottle has a yellow test powder in it. All I did was open one of the bottles and fill it to the "shoulder" with tap water. Then I waited the full 48 hours for the final result. At 24 hours, the test was negative. Then I checked it again at 48 hours, and the test was again negative. This is very good to know since we drink the water and cook with it. Overall, this is a very simple and extremely useful water test kit. It definitely gives us peace of mind knowing that our water is safe to drink. I highly recommend it.

Living in a small town that handles its own water, I have always felt it was on the hard side. Decided to get these rest strips to help determine if my hunches were correct and if so, should we be considering a treatment option. As we already put a double filtration system in the kitchen tap for cooking and drinking quality, I performed two test. One of the treated water (though treatment not purported to deal with hardness factors) and one on a bathroom tap that doesn’t run through our filter system. The above photos show we do in fact have slightly hard water. The test strips are the unused (control) strip at the top with the water exposed test strip post 30 seconds on the bottom. The first test is the unfiltered source from bathroom. The second shows the test from the kitchen filtered water source. Both are remarkably similar so has told me the filter doesn’t in fact deal with hardness factors, but taste and chemicals only. Will also be testing periodically throughout the year and when I feel the water quality has shifted to see if hardness is a factor. This is a quick and easily performed test which has given me a few useful facts about my water. Imagine being on well water this kit would be an even more valuable tool! Really like that the kit came with so many test strips at such a great price! A very useful and handy kit helping to give one peace of mind.

I live in a rural community with a community well for water. The water is hard. It is listed in as being 285 mg/litre. Our old water softener packed it in close to 2 years ago, and we bought a replacement and installed it ourselves. Ever since, I have been wondering how well it is working (whether I have it adjusted optimally), so when I saw these test strip I realized that I could check. The water coming out of our hose (does NOT go through the water softener) showed about 250mg/l on the test strip -- that is pretty close to the officially listed 285mg/l reading, especially considering the test strip is a visual reading only and there are only 6 graduations from lowest to highest readings. The water from the kitchen faucet (does go through the water softener first) showed about 50mg/l -- that is on the high side of what is considered soft water, but still within the range for soft water...and a lot better than our very hard water coming from the well. So I am satisfied that our water softener is doing its job, and that is all thanks to these test strips. My only comment is that it might be nice to have more than 6 colour graduations to match against, and get an even more accurate reading, but then again it would depend on your eyesight and ability to discern between smaller increments in the colour scale.
