It has a lot of telescoping sections and might take a bit longer to set up, but it's very compact for travelling.

Update: You do have to be careful when extending and collapsing. Don't tighten a section too much. In general, you have to be a bit gently with this monopod but it does work and will hold a lot of weight. This is a very light and portable monopod and it does work but you have to know how to use it. First, to extend it you have to turn it to the left and allow a section to fall down THEN you have to turn that section to the right to lock it. You have to do this for each section. It will hold a heavy camera but you have to be careful about locking the sections. If you don't lock a section tightly it can come loose with use and collapse. I would not feel comfortable using this as a tripod without actually having one hand holding it. If you can live with this, it's the most portable monopod you will find. (I had to figure this out myself because it doesn't come with a manual. The online manual takes you to WeChat. This is why I deducted one star.)
