I use these when fishing with down riggers on the great lakes. So far they work great. We'll see how they hold up long term.

Going to replace some standard releases on my planner boards. I usually use braided line and the standard releases tend to slip and even let the line fall out of the clamp. The forward release has a fold out spool that you wrap the line around and then fold it back into the release and against the back of the body where the spool is. There is an adjuster on the arm that controls the amount of pull on the line required to release the line. This pressure would hopefully be a fish that I'm trolling for. Looks like it should be an easy upgrade. When I confirm my thoughts on this upgrade, I will order 3 more so I can run six boards at a time (with a friend onboard).
