I have rather complete set of taps and dies. This set of sockets will allow me to use my ratchet, breaker bar and ratchet extensions with my taps. It will also apparently make it possible for a user to chuck taps into a variable speed drill with a clutch and tap threads under power. I guess I'm old fashioned. I always take my time and tap threads manually with lots of Boelube to avoid breaking or ruining expensive taps.

Super handy set of holders for taps. Nicely designed and precisely machined. For example: the M4 tap that was using fit snug and literally snapped into place. See photo. Works well with either a 1/4 or 3/8 socket wrench so no special tap wrench is required. Nice addition to my tool collection.

This socket set fit all the taps for my Toolant set and is a really nice addition to that set. The sockets are kind of like spark-plug sockets in that they have a rubber bushing / holder housed on the tap side to keep the tap from falling out once it's inserted. The bushings hold well but I felt the size 3 maybe gripped a little too hard; it takes quite a bit of effort to remove a tap that is set into that socket. I guess it protects your taps from falling out and hitting the garage floor!

I've used a few different tap holders in the past, from the cheap bar ones that easily break to beefier ones that are adjustable. This set is something new. Rather than one adjustable holder, this set lets you use a specialized socket for different tap sizes. This is beneficial in a couple of ways. First, it's unlikely the tap holder will break, there are no moving parts, and two, the holder size is reduced as compared to an adjustable one, which might let me get into tighter spaces.The holders retain the taps using an o-rings inside the mouth of the socket. There are 8 sizes for taps of up to 1/2" or 12.5mm, plus a 1/8" NPT tap. If you have a cross bar socket holder, you can use these like a traditional t handle, or you can put it onto a socket wrench. (I would not put it on a power ratchet like they show unless you're just cleaning threads up.)If I have a complaint, it is that the sockets themselves do not list the tap sizes they work for. You have to keep the reference sheet to look it up, and eventually that sheet is going to get oily, dirty, torn, and/or lost. I think they should laser engrave the tap sizes onto the sockets. I posted a photo of the reference sheet to this review, so maybe when mine goes missing I can come back here to print another one, lol.

These are new to me, but I can already think of times they'd have saved the day! I'm actually looking forward to using them. All my taps and extractors fit perfectly in the holder, and I love the simple carrying case. Finally, a tool organizer that's not another mystery box!

To go with a set of good quality extractors I purchased, I bought these. Priceless is the additional leverage you get by being able to use a ratchet wrench on a stubborn bolt. Well these work. In your quiver, a good tool to have.
