Works, if you're careful. Has a much smaller mouth than a scientific rain gage, not sure if that's an issue.But don't push on the glass to drive the stake in the ground! The bottom is super thin and breaks easily.

Unlike other rain gauges that are made of heavy gauge plastic that tends to cloud overtime, this outdoor rain gauge is made of clear glass with a wire wrap container on a metal stem. It sure looks a lot better and more elegant than its plastic competitor. This rain gauge is easy to view from all angles. Makes a great gift for the green thumb in your life.

Very poor quality. The nut broke loose before I could even finish assembly. It appears to have an attempt at a weld of some sort that was not completed. Not worth the hassle of a return for the price. Get what you pay for I suppose. Also, even if it hadn’t broke, it appears the glass would have sat in the spiral crooked as it isn’t straight.

Beautiful rain gauge that has been durable so far. Be aware that the inches are broken into eighths not tenths. Didn't realize it at first, but it makes it challenging to accurately convey your rain in inches.
