Take the guesswork out of your septic tank with Septic Checker!
Septic tanks break down the contents, and allow the water to flow into the leach field. Over time, sludge develops on the bottom of the tank, and needs to be pumped out. Knowing when to pump your tank is the tricky part. With the Septic Checker, just remove it from its carrying case, screw the pieces together with the built-in unions, remove the cover off of the septic tank, and slowly extend the Septic Checker into the primary tank (inlet/house side). When you reach the bottom, you just pull the Septic Checker up about an inch, and pull on the cord until it is taught, and while keeping it taught, wrap the cord around the built-in cleat. This will pull the stopper to the end of the clear PVC pipe, which has been milled to perfectly fit the stopper, and keep it in place. Next, you simply pull the Septic Checker straight up, and view the cross-section sample of your septic tank. Not only does the milled end of the pipe provide an excellent water tight seal with the stopper, it is also shaped to cut easily through the sludge layer without disturbing it. The Septic Checker is marked in 1 foot increments, so you can easily see how much sludge, water and scum are present. If you have near, or over 30% sludge + scum, it's time to have your tank pumped. The Septic Checker, including the cord, is impervious to the septic contents, so it is very easy to clean when you are done with a garden hose. Case has holes drilled in it so that the Septic Checker can dry after you rinse it off and put it back in the case.
Lifetime guarantee: If your Septic Checker ever breaks due to any defect, we will fix or replace it for free.
Please note: If you need to remove the cover to your septic tank (if you don't have a riser installed), they can be quite heavy and so it is recommended to have a helper to help you remove the cover.
NOTE: Tie Ball color may vary. For instance, you may get a black tie ball instead of a red tie ball as shown in the images.

The case is perforated. The listing photos and description purposefully did not show this. After I complained, the seller updated the description. They did refund me $30ish, but also were fairly rude about it. A case with holes makes the case useless. I bought the product to have a clean case to store the stick in while in the work van. By having holes in the case I may as well just have a nasty sewer stick rolling around touching all my tools. You can try to hose of a septic stick, but no way is it sanitary. If I wanted to let the stick dry out I can simply leave it out the case or leave the cap off. Drilling holes is ridiculous. The fact the seller defends this inane decision is embarrassing. Deceptive listing. Bad case. Do not buy. Shame on the seller.

The septic checker came in a nice carrying case. The checker separates into three equal lengths for storing in the case. Easy to assemble and easy to disassemble. The plunger at the base was easy to seal and release while checking the sludge layers. Simple to use and accurate.

This is a must have tool for anybody that has a septic tank. Never have your septic tank pump to early which is a wast of money or to late and could cause expensive repairs. The case it comes in is very handy and simple. The directions to use it were laminated which was a nice touch so you can keep the directions with the tool without them getting ruined. The glove it came with a very cheap and I would not recommend using them. They are just cheap throw away gloves that will easily tear.

Great product! Needs the shipping packaging improved. Lucky for me a 23mm metal jar lid was protecting the clear plastic tube of the sludge judge or I would have had to return it. One of the 4 inch end caps on the cleverly designed storage tube was shattered in shipping. Not wanting to chance even worse damage on a return i repaired it with a 4 inch plumbing end cap

I watched the youtube video from septic checker on how to use it, and within 15 minutes of receiving the product I used it to check the septic pit.I wasn't sure about my results and emailed the seller and got some great information back.If this saves you from pumping your tank just one time it will pay for itself.Great Product!
