My septic guy suggested this to me. On my 4 one. I replace it once/yr for a family of 4. Much better than those cage filters.

The filter was an exact replacement fitting the 4" pipe perfectly. It's a dirty job, but removing and rinsing it off once a year is recommended. I have one one my house and four of my rentals and the stuff some tenants try to flush will amaze you and this filter protects my septic.

I installed this in only a minute or two as if you have risers you just have to unscrew the screws holding the lid down to access where this filter goes. The filter itself has course feeling bristles much like a strong bristled broom and it is pretty long. It comes with a bag for putting it in when it needs to be replaced (I am sure it will be lost by then) and instructions.I was able to fit this down inside the existing filter that is in the 4 inch pipe which I know does not stop quite everything that it needs to before the water goes to my drain lines.Overall, this is a little pricey and only time will tell how long this last but if it keeps me from having to pay for a new drain line then it will be well worth the investment.

This filter is new to us, and we have had a septic tank for years. It's an interesting concept, and since we're building a new house, we'll use it there. The filter is 4' wide and 24" long. It seems like very good quality.

Having lived with a septic tank that always had an issue that required periodic maintenance I finally asked the repair guy if there was something preventative i could use and he suggested a bristle tank filter. After a bit of research I came across this one and got the thumbs up from my repair guy for it. It's been installed for a couple weeks so I don't know the current status but if it performs as well as it should then I'm a happy camper. The length and fit were perfect for the 4" pipe on my system.
