I use this item once a month to keep septic system flowing. I was always having issues with system flowing slowly are backing up. Once I got system flowing I applied this product and have been adding a jug once a month along with bacteria tabs and have not had any more issues so far. I will continue to purchase this item and I highly recommend for others with septic issues.

We love that this is a natural treatment, not caustic or toxic.Last year we discovered our septic tank hadn't been pumped in far too long, when our system started backing up. Once pumped (very $$$), the pipes were still sludgy and unhappy. An unhappy septic system is miserable, and something nobody wants to deal with. We started by adding this product to both toilets as we were leaving for the weekend. The lost star is for the instructions on the bottle for a "Failing" system, that tell you to use a huge amount (two liters at a time) over the course of a month. We didn't do that.We see now that the product page has more reasonable instructions:1. Shake the bottle well before using. 2. For regular maintenance, pour 1 cup (8 oz) of Septic Shock into each toilet once a month. 3. For a clogged or under-performing system, use 2 cups (16 oz) of Septic Shock and let it sit for 24-48 hours before flushing. That is more in-line with what we did in the first place. We still have enough of the original gallon that we are still pouring a cup per toilet and shower drain every week or two, especially if we are going to be gone for a few nights. All of that to say, we are very happy with how this has helped our system rebalance and work well again. The toilets do what they should: flush, and the sinks drain quickly. We will continue to use this product regularly to keep our system happy.

Please read the whole review to insure you do not make an uniformed decision prematurely. The way the product is described, I made the mistake of thinking it competitive to another famously blue product I already use to treat my Black water system in my motorhome... cutting my costs by about half. So I happily ordered the Instant Power Professional Septic Shock treatment, only to find the instructions revealed it not competitive in any sense of the word. Rather, it is sort of the nuclear option, compared to my regular 'maintenance' solution. However, the word Shock actually attracted me, because once in a great while one does encounter a more stubborn clog, implying a stronger cure might be handy, but something short of requiring lead-lined gloves, pardon the exaggeration...What I use now requires only a few ounces every coup'lathree weeks to prevent clogs. Instant Power Professional is truly for more serious needs, and virtually useless as a maintenance tool in a rig, as near as I can determine. They more properly market it for Septic Tank problems. And, it is far more expensive when employed, because treatment is measured in multiple applications of liters, over several weeks. You would likely use at least two of these in each such use, and being that the target use is for a septic tank, the larger volume per application makes sense. When I get a clog in my motor home, it is usually because I went too long between treatments, and a few ounces of my current solution is able to clear it up within a couple of hours. I did test Instant Power and found it was not only not instant, nor effective, within the same period of time... but to be fair, I again only used a few ounces, which is contrary to their instructions. It would not prove cost effective for general ongoing maintenance. And, in fact, I would not suggest it cost effective or sufficiently efficient for a stubborn clog in an RV.That said... where I would suggest it in an RV, is when you have a system that had remained clogged for a long time, undetected (such as after a season or more of storage), or if buying a used RV, where its condition is unknown. The product is safe for the plumbing materials used in an RV, and I do wish I had this product when I first purchased my used rig, which had a serious clog that took me months of effort and considerable expense to reconcile. I firmly believe Instant Power would have in that case, seemed sufficiently instant and well worth the price.THEREFORE, I do recommend having it on hand, or at least remembering its availability, in case you get a super-duper clog and need go to Defcon 5.Likes: pleasant but very mild odor, good choice for Septic tank issues, contigency tool for extremely serious RV issues.Dislikes: just not what I needed or as useful as I imagined, ongoing. But I'm glad to have it on hand, 'just in case.'

I've been a user of various septic system treatment products for quite a number of years. We use them mostly before going on vacation or when there isn't a lot of shower/flush/washer activity. The idea being that you want these products to digest/dissolve the sludge in your on-site septic tank to prevent clogs and stretch the time needed between having the septic tank pumped out.I have found that these do work if you avoid using disinfectant products in your toilet, hand soaps and laundry. Those products counteract the enzyme and bacterial action you're trying to promote. This product looks promising from the label information.Just be aware that in order to complete the directions on this product to help a failing septic system, you'll need quite a bit more. The gallon container is 3.79 liters. The direction note you need to flush 2 liters a day for week -1, and 2 liters every other day for week-2.That's 14 liters week-1, and 8 liters week-2, totaling 22 liters divided by 3.79 liters (one gallon jug) = 5.8 jugs of this product.

Finally having some septic system issues after 70 years that routine use of products just was not solving, like slow draining of main line... especially during wet weather. Suggestion of a clean out service was to replace the whole system (including new drain field lines) at a cost of $7K-10K. Tried this product (two gallons) in addition to others I was using regularly, and the issues are greatly improved. When I read the recommended usage procedure for system rescue, I realized to do it according to the mfr's directions, I'd need 7-8 gallons more! It has taken a while to get ready to do that, but now I have enough to use 2L per day for 7 days, then 2L every other day for at least another week. I know this will make the system even better than it now is functioning, and the cost to do this is less than having the tank pumped (which does nothing for the drain field lines or soil permeability).
