These are a must have when you need to compress a spring. Makes an unnerving job safe and comfortable. I never once felt uneasy while compressing the spring on my wife’s SUV to rotate the cap to install a lift. Durable, safe, and easy to use.

Worked well and heavy duty too. Only dislike is there’s no safety catch pins to keep it from coming off, but has a good grip in the design. Worth the money!

I'd like to first start off by saying that this brand and the type of strut spring compressors in this kit are the EXACT same as every other brand available on Amazon that look like this, and there are several other brands sell this kit under their name. That means the Shankly brand, the OMT brand, and any other brand selling this kit under their name are all the exact same. I ordered several brands and each one is EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE NEXT. The reason I say this is because this brand has the pair of strut spring compressors for the lowest price point on Amazon. Some other brands going for as much as double this price are no different. Secondly, although 2 of these are more than adequate for compressing a strut spring, I did order 2 pairs, so I could use 3 of them instead of 2. I've used 2 before and I definitely like 3 better. It's much safer, much sturdier, and the load gets more evenly distributed. The weight load is so distributed with 3 of these that I was literally almost able to compress a strut spring using only my fingers to tighten the bolts!! Yes, my fingers!! That's how well this product works with 3 of these guys. The fact that 3 can be evenly spread out and can stagger different levels really makes this process so safe and so simple!! The tool itself is very strong and very sturdy, and if you keep the threads greased during use, this tool will most certainly last a long time. The tool has a roller bearing built into the rear portion where the forcing screw runs, so this thing really is great, and at the current price point it's a steal!! I 100% recommend this product and I love how slim the design is, so on some cars you can do it right on the vehicle. Great product, great price, and I 100% recommend.

Used this on qa-1 2.5” dia / 250lb coils and it worked perfectly. These are probably the smallest dia coil I’d trust for the device to work properly without binding on the shock body. I haven’t tried it on any other springs so not sure how heavier lb/in springs would do. Tool seems very well made.

Better to get a dirt bike specific spring compressor if that is your application. These are big and the hooks were too big to fit between the space on the spring without heavy modification with a grinding wheel and a dremmel cutting wheel.I made it work for a crf 125f shock, but should have bought a Mx spring compressor and saved myself a lot of hassle

I've used the common store rental compressors plenty of times and get tired of using stuff that's pre-broken. Went for these since they look like an unusual design.Very glad that I did!!The common design just uses pot aluminum claws with threads roughly cut into them. These wear quickly, gum up, seize, etc etc. Interfaces are just washers, everything is poorly machined. The usual. This design is much, much better. There's an inner and outer tube. The inner tube has a long (~1.5") machined thread at the bottom that interfaces with the acme screw. The outer tube uses an actual bearing where the head of the acme screw presses against the bottom of that tube!! The claw on the outer tube is threaded onto the outer tube, so you can also twist the outer tube to finely adjust the placement of that claw or are in close working conditions.Sure, they don't have the safety hooks, but most of the time I tried to use those the spring wire was too thick so they didn't fit over the spring anyway. And as long as it's seated correctly then the spring isn't going anywhere. Just take your time and be careful.I went ahead and put anti-seize on the acme threads and machine oil on the outer tube claw threads. The tool came in clean and lightly lubed so you can use it right out of the box if you want. No trash, no burrs, just nice stuff.Since the price is comparable to the common junk I wasn't expecting much. Well, I gotta say, I've been pleasantly surprised by several tools from 8milelake. I'm a fan!

This is the best strut spring compressor I’ve ever used. I used this to compress the spring on new struts for my Lincoln Town Car so I could rotate the top mount to fit my application and it made the job super easy. They fit the spring well and did not feel unsafe at all. Would highly recommend.

I ordered this tool after I had tried other spring compressors that would not do the job or did not seem safe to use.I used the tool to install Bilstein 5100's on the front of my 2013 F150 STX 4x4. It compressed the stock springs with no trouble, it compressed the new Moog 81118 Coil Springs with no trouble also (but could tell the new springs were stiffer see pic). At no time did I feel unsafe using this tool. I did use a cordless impact with the tool, it worked well, don't think I would use a high power air impact with it (you don't really need too). What a great price !!!
