As a volunteer with the US Forest Service, when I file my reports, I frequently have a need to record GPS coordinates for locations where trail maintenance is required (such as for fallen trees across the trail). Currently, I can only estimate my location from the trailhead. There are also times where I need to report the trail length that requires maintenance. Based on the description of this product, it should be able to help me with my patrols and reports.Included in the box is the navigator, USB wall charger, USB cable, wrist strap, and User’s Guide. This navigator does require a 5V2A charger, so it’s nice that it was included in the box since not all wall chargers provide 2A. I also find the wrist strap a nice touch because out in the field, it’s easy to drop the navigator, and the wrist strap keeps it from falling to the ground. The User’s Guide is good enough to learn how to use all the commands.When I plugged in the device to the wall charger I saw a battery charge indicator on the display. After it blinked three cycles, the display turned off, and it wasn’t clear how to tell when the battery was fully charged. For me, that’s OK because my plan is to charge it overnight, and based on my tests, the battery can be used for well over a day’s worth of time on the trail.There are two maps in memory on the device. I quickly discovered that I really wanted a map that I could zoom in a lot to see more details, and therefore I followed the instructions on how to load offline maps. This worked perfectly, but I will warn you that the recommended software is an open-source program, and therefore the user interface is not completely friendly. If you’re computer savvy, then you’ll be fine, but if you’re not comfortable navigating around a computer, then you may have issues. (Please keep in mind, you do not need to download maps to use this device. I just wanted to so I could zoom in for more details on the map.)While I haven’t gone to the mountains to hike any trails there, I have hiked along trails in town, and this device does everything I was expecting. It’s very easy to find the GPS coordinates (greyed out in attached photos) at any time. While you can mark those points and save them in memory, I found the process to actually assign a name to each point to be very cumbersome and time-consuming (if you can remember back to sending text messages before smartphones were invented, that’s the same process; you need to find a group of letters first, then select the specific letter, then start again for the next letter, all by using arrow keys). My plan is to use a notepad and pencil if I need to name the GPS coordinates that I save to memory.There are a lot of other features that could be very useful, such as measuring elevation based on satellites’ reading or barometric pressure if you’re indoors and can’t receive a satellite reading, and measuring area, length, or slope (this one will be interesting while on the trails). There is also a compass.The navigator has a nice sturdy case and feels really solid. I’m excited to have this GPS navigator and can’t wait for the weather to warm up and get back out on the trails again.

Entered the coordinates but haven't used yet . But I like the way it feels in your hand . Was easy to operate right it off the box .
