2 of the 4 screws that fasten the back to the body were missing. Large aluminum heatsink completely loose inside unit. IC chip glued to the heatsink has 3 leads. All 3 are sheared from their connections to circuit board.

I'm not pleased with this speed controller. What's odd is that this is exactly the same as another one I got previously, but from a different seller on Amazon. They are spitting images of each other, except this one has a dial that doesn't respond correctly. It feels smooth and there's no issues that I can feel or see, but when I control an AC fan with this one, the fan starts to make an electronic wobble when the dial gets down to 80%. Anything above that and the fan behaves the same, but below that percentage it makes the aforementioned sound, and then cuts off slightly after that.My other controller takes it down in the 20 to 30 range before it cuts off, but the fan never makes that weird electronic wobble sound when they're connected. I really think this one has a bad potentiometer inside the dial, or something else I'm not familiar with. It just spins so smooth that it's confusing me, since most potentiometers I've used would start to make grinding, crackling sounds as I rotated them while they were failing. I definitely don't like the sound it causes my exhaust fan to make, it's like the fan is straining or coughing on the power coming from this controller. I don't trust this one and will be examining what options are available to me, but definitely won't get another from this provider, because the quality checks are subpar at best. No thank you. Best regards.
