The construction is sturdy enough and will survive collisions with furniture and walls. The velcro attachment allows precise adjustment to the exact collar (neck) dimension and cone angle you want, but you should set it once and leave it, slipping the collar over the head to get it on and pulling it off over the head to get it off. If you try to undo the velcro, there is such a huge attachment area, it will make a terrible noise that will likely frighten your dog and you will just have to adjust the size all over again. And, at least with my Golden Retriever, it was impossible to adjust the collar so that he could not bite his back paws. He could just go right around the cone. He could even slightly get the tips of his toes on his front paws. So it works OK, but none of them are "lock-outs".

I bought this cone for my dog who had a cataract removed. He has had it on for two and a half weeks, with another week to go.The cone has felt around the top and the neck. Around the neck is comfort for him, and around the end, it keeps me from getting scratched up. He has a power-through mentality instead of backing up and trying again. He is very rough on cones. The last one I bought was one of those traditional ones you get at the vet that they run a piece of gauze through and tie around the neck. He also had to wear that one for three or four weeks. He managed to rip that sucker in half the first week and I had to use duct tape to put it back together. This cone is much thicker and sturdier.He has managed to rip off about 1/3 of the felt around the end dragging his face through the yard to smell stuff. I cut off the dangling pieces so they don't rub his face. The cone has no tears or cracks and he has put it through its paces. It does have a ton of ceases in it where he powers through.I love that it has this 4-5" velcro strip on both ends. I haven't had to tighten the cone up. It has stayed exactly where the vet attached it. Since that part is heavier, it hangs under his chin.I know it takes a while to get this product, but it is worth the wait if you have a scheduled surgery like I did. I was amazed at how cheap this cone is. If the next week goes well, I can keep this in case one of my dogs needs another surgery.The attached pictures show him in his cone the first day I got him home. The second picture showing all of the creases is from today,This is an excellent product and I would definitely recommend and purchase it again!

Our dog just destroyed a prior ecollar, the plastic was too brittle. The plastic on this collar is more flexible and thicker than the prior collar. I also like the design, its not too tall so our dog can walk around the house without bumping into furniture. The collar has good quality strips at top and bottom which keep the plastic from digging into skin. It's a little hard to take off the velco is massively sticky, but I suppose that will mean that the velcro will keep the collar closed.

Very pleased with this well-made and sturdy e-collar. The sizing chart was very accurate (I got the 5X for my 60 lb dog with his long neck). The fit is good and the wide velcro strips on the cone keep the cone together. The vinyl leather- like strips all along the edges of the collar or protective cone really protect furniture and our legs when he bumps into us. I reviewed a lot of different e-collars on the Amazon site and I picked a winner with this one. I know my dog is comfortable wearing it as he can eat and sleep with it on. He'll be wearing it for a while and I feel like it is very durable. Thank you, Amazon, for selling this e-collar.

Too expensive for what i am pretty sure was a used cone due to the dried blood stain i had to wash off with sanatizer (hence the one star) and ripped edging, but in an emergency it works.No giant sticker like a few reviews mentioned. Got the xl but its slightly too big, still works for my big hound dog and his torn ear. Velcro in strong, but he doesn't really try to get it off..he has accepted the cone. For a more rambunctious dog i suggest getting one that attaches to a collar. I also suggest buying one from the pet store instead, that way you know it has not been used and returned and then resold like i suspect the one i got was (read the reviews)

This is a good cone with one huge flaw I think most of us have overlooked. It has an insane amount of velcro as its fastener. Imagine just how loud this is when unfastening on your dog!! If your dog has a head, eye or ear injury and cant just slip the cone off over his head as my did when I bought this, dont. The noise will likely scare the hell out of your dog when you remove it. 2 or 3 equally placed 1X1" squares of velcro would be more than sufficient. Its a good cone, but for your animals sake, consider if you will have to rip all of that velcro apart to remove and remember they have super hearing and the cone only amplifies this noise.
