I like the finished product well enough but it took two full evenings to build. The instructions were subpar. Only the pieces for the houses were marked and didn't include instructions for their roofs. The side panels for the houses were not predrilled so it was very confusing as to how to get it put together without it coming out of square. That information was left out. The shrink wrapped covering is ridiculous to try and remove. Had to go at those pieces with Tweezers because it shredded when trying to remove it. There were no screws included for the short ramp but hardware was attached to accommodate screws. Really should be a hinge or else there's no way to pull the tray out, without taking the whole piece out. I like that the ramps are metal lined to keep them from being chewed. All in all, decent finished product, but a little rough looking. It will do the trick though, and the critters seem to like it.

Item discretion stated metal frame. It is not! It's all wood. With a little aluminum around small parts.

It's huge, instructions were a bit difficult. But my hamsters can chew it so I had to put my other hamster who doesn't chew on things that aren't toys in there

I bought this cage for my two pet mice. I ended up splitting the cage by level by filling the hole in the top floor in with another piece of wood. My mice have loved it so far, have plenty of room to run and climb on the sides, and they haven’t been able to chew through the wood or wiring.Assembling the cage wasn’t too bad. It probably took maybe an 1-2 hours with two people. It looks great and I love that the wheels are on the bottom/can lock at ease. The cage feels sturdy too.My only complaints with this cage is that it’s very easy for bedding/shaving to get thrown over the side of the cage since the wiring is so low, however, that’s kind of inevitable so that doesn’t bother me too much. Additionally, pieces such as the little wooden house start to stink after a while since the wood sucks up different smells, but that’s bound to happen. The sliding tray at the bottom of the cage (designed for cleaning) has been a pain to use, so I just avoid it all together, however, if you assemble your cage a certain way and don’t have issues with it, I’m sure it makes a lovely addition and is super helpful in cleaning. I’ve had no issues cleaning without the tray though. The cage is easy to clean on its own. When I first received this package, I noticed one of the pieces of wood had some mold growing on it. It was only one piece, and I was able to wash it off with soap and water. I contacted the seller and they told me that was out of the ordinary and they refunded me for that piece, which I was thankful for. I haven’t had an issue with mold since then.

Good cage with plenty of room for my 3 dwarf hamsters. Honestly bigger than I imagined it would be, well worth the money in my opinion. Would purchase again.

This is great!! The only negative thing I have is that the top part is hard to empty out because it does not have a tray but otherwise this is an amazing product! We have a guinea pig on the top and a hamster on the bottom!

Easy to assemble but some part labelling could be better.Great access through 4 doors (2 on each floor) to pet and housing for cleaning purposes, etc.Wrong (insufficient) number of screws to build the second included house and wrong number of screws again to attach ramps. The error is evident in the instructions. Bad math by manufacturer. Don’t really need 2 houses.Soft lumber materials are likely to be expected for the price.Still, a nice cage. Suits our larger than normal (to me anyway) hamster.

After looking at several cages and studying the reviews I went with this one. I was expecting mediocre wood full of knots, roughly finished. I planned on spending a good amount of time sanding the wood and painting it. My first clue was when I got the box, how heavy it was. That explained the hefty delivery fee. The cage was carefully packed and no damage was evident. The wood was mostly clear of defects. The finish was acceptable and best of all, it was already painted! No need to fill voids, sand, or paint anything - it was fine the way it was. Yeah, OK, I could of done a better job of it myself, but I was happy enough the way it was. Assembly was straightforward. The instructions were easy enough to follow and the parts were all well labeled. Granted I have a LOT of assembly experience, but even so I think pretty much anybody could follow the directions. I do have one quibble with the process however. While the face frames were pre-drilled and (kind of) countersunk, the parts they attached to were not. Drilling into wood without pilot holes is a recipe for splitting. So I used a #6 tapered bit (the screws are all #6 diameter. I work at a hardware store so I notice that kind of thing) to drill the pilot holes, and everything went together without a hitch. Another point in the plus column is the thickness of the bottom tray. In the ad, the manufacturer makes the claim that their tray is heavier than their competitors'. Yeah, I've heard that one before. But this thing was VERY robust, and DEEP! They knocked it out of the park with the tray, which is a shame because I ended up using the bottom part of the cage for storage. I have one rat that lives on the upper deck, and I closed of the bottom part with a little door that was provided. The upper deck is finished with a smooth surface similar to a countertop - no worries about water penetrating and causing the wood to swell or stink of rat pee. I should also mention that the door latches are quite secure and I have no fears of my pet rat getting out. Now then, as to the claim that this cage is chew proof....not so much. Some of the surfaces (the entrances to the two included hideaways, the edges of the ramps) are clad with aluminum, but that's it. If an animal wanted to it could chew its way out. I made sure my rat had plenty of toys, and so far she has not nibbled on any of the wood frame after two weeks. Other comments: the wire mesh is just adequate - not as heavy as regular hardware cloth but it does the job. The acrylic panels at either end help keep bedding in the cage and off the floor. There could have been a higher lip at the front of the top deck, but really spillage has not been a problem at all. You may have problems attaching some water bottles. I have a medium/small-ish bottle that I attached to one of the sloping front doors by taking a piece of coat hanger and bending it to fit. I also appreciate the fact that this cage comes with wheels, which is nice because it is rather heavy. Bottom Line: For me, this cage is a pure winner! Well worth the money.

Bought XXL for 3 guiny pigs. Overall pleased. Huts are a little small.Instruction picture and steps mostly ok. Hardware counts were wrong and short.P3 screws, 29 provided.... 40 called for in the steps. 24 for huts & 16 for wheels. My math says 24+16= 40 not 29.P5 screws, 3 provided.... 4 needed. These are the ramp screw. Step 8 calls for two on the long ramp, Step 6 shows install of small ramp but does not call for screws. Need P5s. Also location is wrong, will hit pan hand-holds, need to push it back to center.Plexiglass protective layer, tough to get off because put on before frames, so you can pull it from the corners.Cleanout Door Hardware, missing one of the latch hold downs...If your handy you can make it work....Shame manufacture quality and hardware is not better
