  • Professional stereo microscope with boom stand has long working distance to enable users to perform work or manipulate large items, including circuit boards and dental appliances
  • Trinocular viewing head with pairs of 10x and 20x super-widefield eyepieces, adjustable interpupillary distance, fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to enable sharing
  • 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective provides continuous zoom magnification and longer focal length for inspecting large-scale specimens, a 0.5x Barlow lens extends the working distance, and a 2.0x Barlow lens extends the magnification range
  • Removable rheostat-controlled 144-bulb LED has four separate zones to independently control light intensity and direction
  • Double-arm boom stand has 20" arms and 17" pillar to enable users to position the microscope head on three axes (X, Y, and Z)

The AmScope SM-4TZZ-144A professional trinocular stereo zoom microscope has interchangeable pairs of 10x and 20x super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces, a 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective, two Barlow lenses, and a double-arm boom stand. The microscope has an overall magnification range of 3.5x-180x. The trinocular viewing head has an interpupillary range of 55 to 75mm, a 45-degree inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation to enable sharing. The vertical trinocular port can be used as a C-Mount or 23mm photo port (camera sold separately). The WH10x20mm and WH20x10mm super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces combine with the 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective to provide continuous zoom magnification and a longer working distance for inspecting large-scale specimens that require handling or repair. The microscope comes with 0.5x and 2.0x Barlow lenses that can be added to the objective to increase the magnification range. A Barlow lens with a magnification of less than 1.0 reduces magnification and increases the working distance, while a Barlow lens with a magnification greater than 1.0 increases the magnification and reduces the working distance. High-eyepoint eyepieces ease viewing for users who wear glasses, and dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences. A stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has low magnification and a long working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected.

The removable 144-bulb LED ring light has four separate zones to independently control light intensity and direction. The ring light provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens, and shadow-free illumination. A rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. Power and adjustment controls are located on a control box to speed adjustments. The ring has a 2-1/2" (64mm) inside diameter and a 4" (100mm) outside diameter. It has a 100,000-hour life span and a 110V-240V variable power supply. The microscope has a double-arm boom stand that enables users to position the microscope head on all three axes (X, Y, and Z). Bilateral focus eases use for left- and right-handed users. The stand has 20" double arms, and a 30" overall length. The pillar is 17" and the focus rack has a 3" diameter. The solid cast-steel base is 2 x 8-1/4 x 10-1/4 inches (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back).

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.

Pros:- Sturdy build- Good working distance- Clear and bright with the LED ring- Easy repositioning- Smooth focus motion- Switching between the camera port and left eye piece is quick and easyCons:- Heavy- Terrible instructions- Missing required screw driver- You can't use the camera port and left eye piece at the same timeDefinitely worth the money, but not without it's problems (mostly in the setup). This scope is solid. You feel every penny you spent in the weight of this thing. It's a bit heavy if your looking for a scope you can move around, but its weight feels justified in it's stability. It doesn't teeter unless you really try and it has a wide range of motion. The only real issue I had with this scope was the assembly. It isn't a lot of parts and they aren't super complicated, but the instructions for the assembly were for a completely different microscope. So I had to assemble the whole thing from the product listing picture. Also, installing the eye pieces required a screw driver I wasn't given. Luckily I had one small enough for it.Once it was all together it was great. It was easy to reposition and focus. Most adjustments can be done with knobs which means you rarely need tools. The trinocular (camera) port blinds the left eye piece, but it is still a great feature to have so you're not constantly switching between an eye piece out for a camera when you want a picture.

This is a great scope for the money. In fact, I can not see myself needing any better optics than this provides. There are enough combinations of lenses to run the gamut of uses for myself. It's mount makes it very versatile too.I use it for microscopic surgery and it can provide a good working distance with the optimal magnification. There is enough room to get two hands with instruments between the patient and the lens. The variable controlled lighting helps immensely when you are having problems with glare from wet reflective surfaces. At times when I have to have the scope extended out at full maximal reach, it can tip over with the slightest pressure, even from you looking into the eye piece, or from touching the focusing knobs. When I have to use it this way I use a clamp to secure it to the rolling small table where it stays.I also use this for hobbies at times - from microscopic cleaning of art work to cleaning up fossils. Another great feature of this is that I can rotate the scope to any angle for examining large irregular shaped fossils on a bench to looking at the middle section of a large painting where the only way to get a scope to it is to keep it mounted against a wall. You could only reach so far in it if it was laid flat.Overall a great choice.

A brief reviewThe BUILD QUALITY is fine. Heavy stand, but if you pull the microscope out all the way, it becomes a bit unstable. The EYEGUARDS provided are subpar, had to order others. The MANUAL (assembly instructions) is a joke, the printed papers includedare not related to the microscope you will receive. You will have to ask Amscope for a password (Use their website, as Amscope/Amazon has been unable to provide the correct password despite 4 emails. No password is provided on the package, although inside the box is a note which states there is a password "on the box". (This is annoying, as it would be simple to just add a little note with the password or not password protect manuals as every other company out there does). The LED light is fine, has different settings to reduce glare. The FIELD OF VISION is a bit limited, if you move your head a bit you wont be able to see the full field, which could be better.OPTICS are fine, nice to be able to have up to 20 cm distance to your workplane, depending on which lenses you use.And this comes with a cover, so dont order one separately.

What can I say? This scope possesses fabulous optics (I utilize it as a dissection scope for tissue culture purposes -- and can use it, comfortably, for hours on end); its movements are very smooth, especially for a heavy boom microscope; and it is, honestly, very competitive with the Nikon and Olympus models that I have used in the past, though at a fraction of that cost. It was money well spent; among my smarter purchases; and I will definitely be a repeat customer . . .The microscope was promptly shipped via UPS, free of charge: really a service, since the damn thing weighed 32 kilos -- about 70 pounds, and was extremely well-packed; though, my only issue with them is that Amscope gives their customers a great deal of credit -- far too much -- in that their manuals are overly generic, more akin to a ransom note; appear to be poorly translated from ancient Sanskrit with a side of Chinglish ("Hold the camera with one hand for fear of falling when you take the films out of the big camera," "Press the glass stage on the sunken place then the other side of the glass stage will be lifted," "Appear the image on the monitor or TV," and "Eyes fell tired easily" are among my many favorites); and are nearly absent in terms of assembly instructions. Were I not already familiar with their construction, I would have been very unhappy; though I'd rather the manual be a piece of absolute crap -- and it is that -- than the microscope itself. With the latter, I couldn't be more pleased. Also, it would have been nice to know that a vinyl cover was already included with the scope, since I ended up purchasing one separately (at 28.00, including shipping and CA sales taxes).Guess what Amazon will be receiving back in the post . . .
