Yard Drain Emitter

This drainage grate is not only suitable for sump pump drainage, downspouts, detention basins, and culverts, but it also helps reduce humidity around the house and prevent flooding or basement leaks. It effectively prevents rainwater from washing away the soil, preventing foundation leaks or cracks.

The sloped design of the drainage grate allows water to flow directly into the pipes for efficient drainage, ensuring that excess water is safely redirected away from your property.

The plastic surprised me at how thick it is, seems a lot like a schedule 80, certainly more rigid than the schedule 40 pipe I had for gutter drains. The thickness also gives a good anchor for the grate screws. The best feature is the sloped dischage. It keeps water flowing even with an amount of debris lodged in it. The grate removes easily for cleanout.

There really isn't too much to say about this. It's beefy so you don't need to worry about careless walkers or a curious critter destroying it. The grate is nicely secured so animals can't take up residence in your pipe. It's also easy to remove for clearing out any debris. Sizing works nicely with my 4in corrugated drain pipe. I found it easy to attach using a rubber connector with clamps.

I am using this for my downspout gutter runoff. My downspout is connected to a semi rigid 3 inch drain pipe from the gutter down about 15 feet in once case, and 30 feet in another case. They terminate into a mulch bed on a slight angle. My concern is that over time the mulch and other yard debris including dirt, rocks, twigs, and leaves are building up around the outlet. I also am concerned about rodents potentially nesting there. This yard drain grate is attractive for several reasons and really well built. The pipe is rigid - moreso than the drain pipe itself, no concerns with crushing. The grate itself is flimsier but not of concern to me. The angle is nice so it can be buried and blend in well with the yard. By using a 3 to 4 inch coupler I was able to make an easy connection from the drain pipe to this drain pipe. What I haven't had to yet is unscrew the green grate for cleanout, but I presume this will be simple enough. I like that the screws appear to be stainless which should prevent rusting.Overall, really like it, solidly built and performing as expected.

I just installed a new, very shallow sloped French drain from a low spot out to the street. The entire yard is without terrain - basically quite flat, so I had limited options for a discharge and tried this.Heavy PVC construction, strong enough to step on or probably even to drive over with a riding mower once installed in the soil. It looks nice, drains well, a good grate. (Seems like lots of sellers are selling the exact same part, honestly, so this was posted at a much better price than some of the others). It's perfectly sized to snug inside the collar of heavier plumbing grade 4" PVC. My French drain pipe was also nominal 4" but a lighter gauge material, so I needed the collar for that to "thicken" it's diameter at the outlet, then perfect.Very pleased with this solution!

I live in the city on a small lot and have limited space for my gutters to empty into and this is exactly what I need to direct the rain from the gutter down spout so that it spreads out through the grate and doesn't all run out like a river. I'm looking forward to getting an adapter so it is all ready to put on come spring.

I typically use pop-up drains for gutter outlets in the yard. The downside to those is that it's not too hard to suck one up in the mower or having the cover come off completely. They also rely on good drainage in the pipe to be able to get rid of the remaining water after it stops raining. With this drain, assuming you have enough of a slope to handle it, the drain pipe can flow completely empty at the end.Structurally, the pipe body looks like a piece of schedule 80 PVC, so it's plenty tough. However, I do have a couple of concerns with the molded green part. First off, unlike most PVC grates I've used, this is actually pretty thin with a couple of ribs across the back of each grate section to reinforce it. That makes it reasonably structural, but not quite as strong as I'd like. I also don't know for sure how it will hold up long term with sun exposure, etc. eating at the plastic. The other concern that could be an issue here is that the bottom hole in the grate follows the bottom curve to give a place for the mounting screw. I'm assuming the screws are stainless and won't rust, and the opening allows for pretty much all of the water to drain out, but the result is that the bottom opening is easily big enough for mice to go up into the pipe. The biggest problem there would probably be if they started nesting and clog up the pipe somewhere upstream. The other possible issue to consider, although not a problem for me since I have leaf guards on my gutters, would be if you are getting leaves into your gutters and they wash down the pipe. You'll have to remove that grate to get them out. The pop-up's don't really have a problem letting leaves that are flowing with the water out.At any rate, overall this is a pretty nice drain design if you have the appropriate terrain for it.

In my drainage area I have a challenge with critters making a home in the pipes. This drainage grate was a perfect solution for my discharge area. The thick-wall pipe measures 4" inside and 4.5" outside. I just added the right adapter to connect it up and it worked perfectly. I liked how the angled lip has a small dimple to help a tiny stream of water exit the pipe. The 2 screws seem also seem easy to remove if I ever need to clean out the grate. Bottom line, it is very solid construction and works well. I'm going to get a few more of these.
