My use is specific.I use this to protect the cable ends on 10 gauge extension cords mounted on reels. The "protection" does not include waterproofing. It is not used as a cable lock.10 gauge is required for electric chainsaws and other high current devices.NOTE: use of multiple extensions cords has never been wise.My use required that I plug the large end with an RBG grommet.I also had to drill out the small end hole to fit a 10 gauge cord. (use 9/16" or 5/8")Now both ends are protected from dust and debris but more importantly, protected from physical damage especially the male end.I love this gadget because removal and replacement of the end protection is mindlessly convenient. One bad thing.I can't find the instruction sheet online. So, here it is.

I'm pleased with my purchase, well packed and arrived perfectly. The quality of the Allied Precision 28CSK is solid and well built. It has a nice feature where it takes a bit of effort to completely unscrew the two pieces so they can't unintentionally become unscrewed. The snap connections are solid and do not appear would break under multiple uses. Comparing this to Farm Innovations CC-1 orange they are extremely similar; although the Farm Innovations has some more pronounced hinge elbows. I have both and like both. I would buy either on price although I wanted the Black from Allied for a specific application. I'm using my application to hold and hide two USB2 extension hubs together in a media room effectively. I use these indoor exclusively I am not evaluating its water-resistance though it does appear to offer some protection as long as water can drain away and not directly enter the side holes such as under some type of shelter.

I can't believe how amazing these things are! Once I figured out the orientation, everything clicked together perfectly! I used this to connect two string of outdoor lights, and I will go ahead and offer advice to anyone doing this. Make sure you connect them together with this device BEFORE you hang the lights. It was a pain in the butt trying to bring the two ends together when they lines were already taught, haha. I already had them strung before I bought this device, otherwise I'd have made sure use them BEFORE hanging the lights, haha.Great little invention and very easy to use!

I have purchased two of these and they work very well. I use one for a string of lights in the back yard. It is exposed to the elements and it is holding up well. I use the second one in my chicken coop where the water heater is plugged into an extension cord. The cord and this cover are sitting on the ground and are constantly getting caked in dirt, chicken feed and...other stuff. :-) Both covers are holding up just fine.I also appreciate that cover is adjustable once it's on the electrical cords. This allows for a nice, snug fit in any setup.

Read all of the reviews and selected this item thinking my connections were small enough ... wrong. This thing is super small so you really need to be connecting the smallest cords you've ever seen. It is clearly easy enough to use and appears adequate for a minor precipitation but a sort examination makes it obvious that it is not a heavy duty item. I'm keeping it for when I have the smallest cords to use as it seems like a handy item but even a medium sized cord will be too large.

These things are a bit larger than they appear on here, but all in all they serve their purpose. I am actually using mine to cover bnc connectors to my security cameras that I had to run the wires outside a bit to reach the cameras from inside. Just to shield a bit from the elements so the connectors dont get all rusty and start messing up. Has worked great for the last couple months, which in Arkansas, it's like we got an entire 2 weeks worth of strong storms and rain, so I never lost any connection...seems to be working.

Weather-Resistant, Plastic Cord Lock(s) - are neat little devices that I use outdoors, primarily to maintain a solid electrical connection between 2 cords, without being pulled apart. I have purchased some of the same or similar cord locks from other manufacturers here, and they all work the same.* EZ to install* Saves you the additional trouble of having to waster any black electrical tape, as I did before.* Made of high-impact plastic, but it will break if something heavy falls on it.* Black color is easy to conceal, versus the GREEN ones.HOW TO MAKE IT WATER-PROOF -1. go down to your large hardware store, or here works too.2. buy the Black LIQUID (Repair )solvent bottle for repairing electric connections. Just like black electrical tape, except it's a Liquid with a dabber.3. Dab the end's, hinges and closures of the cord lock. Let it dry. Done.

I bought these to connect light strings together and keep the rain off of the cords. They securely hold the cords together to keep them from unplugging and also adjust to fit the types of cords you're holding together. Our lights are over our pool area so we wanted something to protect the cords from the moisture and chlorine, and these look like they will do the job well.
