About this item

  • Relief pressure preset of 30 psi for releasing excess pressure
  • 3/4" female NPT threaded inlet for connecting to a male NPT connection
  • ASTM B584 bronze body and nozzle and stainless steel spring for corrosion resistance
  • 250 degrees F maximum temperature for use in high-temperature applications
  • ASME safety rated for Section IV water heating systems

This Apollo Valve 10-400 series safety relief valve has a bronze body, a 30 pounds per square inch (psi) relief pressure, a 3/4" female National Pipe Thread (NPT) inlet connection, and a 3/4" female NPT outlet. The valve's body and nozzle are bronze for resistant to corrosion, the seat is EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) for resistance to ozone and aging, and the spring is stainless steel for resistance to corrosion. The valve can be used in operating temperatures up to 250 degrees F. This safety valve is American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) safety rated for Section IV hot water heating boilers and hydronic heating systems.

Relief valves remove excess pressure or vacuum from a system. The valve openings allow fluids or gases to escape to decrease pressure, and then close once the valve reaches the reseating pressure limit. They also relieve excess vacuum by opening to release a gas into the system and then closing after it reaches its low-pressure limit. Some relief valves have an adjustment mechanism to set the pressure where the valve opens, making it suitable for various applications. Relief valves are rated according to the volume of liquid or gas that can flow through them and the material that the valve is constructed from must be suitable for the fluid or gas, which may be corrosive or at an extreme temperature, in which it operates. Relief valves are used in a variety of applications, such as air compressors, petrochemical and chemical manufacturing, natural gas processing, and power generation.

Apollo Valves manufactures ball, mixing, and relief valves, actuators, water gauges, marine fittings, heating and plumbing products, and backflow prevention. The company, founded in 1928 and headquartered in Matthews, NC, meets international standard International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/IEC standard 17025:2005.

I have well water that can shorten the life of anything with a seal in it. This valve works well and is easy to install. I keep a spare because I never know when the current one's seal will fail.

THANK YOU Apollo for making a valve that does what it's supposed to do! I specifically waited to post this review because of multiple problems with other brands. Since installing this 18 months ago, it's been perfect. No leaks, not problems, it just sits there, as it should. The previous models I bought from that other company would begin dripping and leaking. If you're replacing this valve it's essential that you remove any air in your system, and your expansion tank is functioning correctly. After replacing two valves from that other company, I replaced my expansion tank with a bigger model. The third valve from that other company failed again. Turns out the other company just makes lousy valves that lasted about 12 months. They were bronze, with tin and metal pieces inside which rusted and failed. So far absolutely NO problems with Apollo

To start with I bought a relief valve at a Manards. When I put it on. It leaked. So I did my home work. I found this valve on Amazon with good reviews. I bought it. It was a day late for delivery. I put it on my Boiler furnace. It was not leaking. I had great pressure. I highly recommend this value. The reviews were right. Well built and great product.
