Purchased this motor for a 2005 Mini Cooper S (R52). As previous comments have stated, the polarity is reversed for the Mini Cooper so Up is Down and Down is Up. Most likely because this motor is designed to to go into multiple vehicles and some vehicles may have different wiring schemes. This can be corrected by removing the 4 screws which hold the metal housing and turning 180 degrees which sets the polarity correct (up is up and down is down). This prevents anyone from having to cut wires or rewire things.

The motor was wired backward. Up is down. The connection has a key and it cannot be connected wrong. It is a motor issue. Returned.
