These are obviously well made, but i messed up and got a pair that would fit a five year old boy. I was getting them for my boyfriend soo that obviously didn't work out but that was my bad for not paying attention to sizing.

These pants were nice to have for my nephew during our hiking trips in cold weather. They are form fitting and they fit pretty well. They do not rub the skin or ride up for the most part. The long leggings keeps your legs from chafing which is great when he was hiking. It does not shrink or lose tension in the machine wash so you do not have to worry about that. Like with any new clothing, the one thing I will say is to wash all of them before trying them on as this one felt a bit powdery. The material did not require much getting used to due it being tight fitting. The material has held up pretty well even after going through the wash and dry. Unfortunately the waist bands get all wrinkled from the wash but it does not lose tension from what I can tell. It fits very well and does not feel constricting to the point where he cannot move. He is actually able to move pretty well with these on. My nephew use them in during soccer games and practice. They do absorb sweat and can stick to my skin which makes them harder to take off. Also when running it does not ride up and then exposes my skin to chafe each other during runs. They are also very warm so it is perfect for outdoor activities as he can still wear his shorts/pants and stay warm. These do not have any kind of pockets which is fine. It can fit under his shorts so he can use these in his soccer matches too. Overall these compression pants fit as expected and are very comfortable for my nephew. It keeps him warm and allows him to have good mobility without chafing.

These Arctix base layer pants are of good quality. Since the sales price varies depending on size and color, whether they are a great value really depends on the price point. At the low end near $13, these are a great value. At the high end of $24.99, the value is just ok. At the high end, there are some very nice brand name options that you should also consider. But if you can find a size and color that works for you for $15 or less, these are good quality base layer pants.

I bought the XL thinking they were 14/16, but these are 18/20. My son is on the thin side, so we buy 14/16 for the length, but the waist is usually too big. So these do fit tighter since they are thermals and suppose to be tighter, so he can wear these if we roll the waist. However, my daughter can wear these. I have other winter clothes by this company and really liked everything we've gotten so far so it was a no brainer to get the thermals to go under all the ski clothes we got from them already.

My 6 year old got these in size Small=8. He typically wears size 6/6X, but I ordered these a size bigger because he doesn't like things too tight. These were a great fit with some room to grow. Waist fit well. There was definitely extra length but this wasn't an issue as they are skinny at the ankles. My son said they were "medium" for softness/hardness. I thought they felt nice inside (like you'd expect). Summer is just starting here, so it'll be awhile before he needs these, but I'm confident they'll fit next fall/winter.

This is a very nice baselayer at a good price. It has the outer layer and on the inside it has another thicker layer with a square pattern. I ordered a size up and it was a perfect fit so I definitely recommend up sizing. They are very soft and don't catch/pull your leg hair like cheaper base layers. Definitely the most comfortable base layer I've used. The only complaint I have is that the waist band rolled over on itself and scrunched up. It looks like the scrunching is staying even after I stopped wearing them. I don't have this issue with any of my other base layer pants. Even with this flaw I still like them but I would like to see one with a beefier waistband.

Our 11.5yr old is in Boy Scouts and will be doing more tent camping (as opposed to our family trips in the camper), so he needed some base layer items to keep warm. He has a little extra in the butt and hips, so while his overall clothing sizes tend to be accurate (currently a 12), things that are meant to be snug, like underwear, have to be sized up. Thanks to a previous review, I knew this item runs big, so I ordered his "normal" size, M 10-12, rather than sizing up to the 14, which is what I have to do for his boxer briefs, and these fit perfectly. If your kiddo is slimmer in the hips/thighs, definitely size down.As for quality, these are really well made. The waist band is sturdy and the seams all feel very strong. He likes how they feel on his skin and they fit well under his thinner scout pants.
