As an eclectic mixed media artist whose tiny home studio is overrun with materials, I'm always looking for storage solutions, so I was thrilled when I came across this art storage rack. When it arrived and I opened the box to find what felt like a problem to solve with all the individual parts, I was a little less thrilled.Don't get me wrong; assembly was easy enough. But somehow the way it was presented, pulling large metal piece after piece out, along with a giant bag of hardware mixed together, which included a wrench, allen wrench, and hex drill bit (none of which I used because hand tightening was more than enough), it felt like a huge project instead of the basic assembly it turned out to be. All I needed was a clear, level space to work on, and it was together in under 10 minutes. Leaving me with a bag of extra metal hardware I'm now going to have to find a place to store (it never ends). The images and dimensions shown for the product are all over the place and don't reflect reality at all. This is not a small rack and their measurement examples just aren't accurate numbers. I've added measurements to my photos to give accurate sizing. That said, this art rack is sturdy. It can handle heavy frames and glass, hardboard, and canvases. This is not a small piece of equipment. It's made for larger pieces, medium sized and up. It's probably overpowered for its use, if I'm being honest. I piled it up with some of the glazed frames I have on hand when looking to make a quick gift, and I could have filled the entire rack without problem. My larger square board canvases are 12" x 12", and although they do fit, it's very obvious how overkill this rack is for storing them. Not so much with the 18" x 24" collages on 19" x 24" foam board in the back. This rack is ideal for 18" x 24", but powerful enough for much larger. I've got a watercolor stretching board made of heavy, solid wood that's 32" x 24" that I'm comfortable storing in this art rack (as long as it's on the floor at the time). So using this art rack for medium-small 1/2 finished paintings and works in progress collages feels overkill in contrast to what I know it can handle.Obviously, I prefer sturdy to flimsy any day when it comes to storing art, but I suspect a full metal rack has a lot to do with the price point. I'd probably go with something a little less sturdy for 1/2 the price if offered, for my specific studio needs. But if I started storing large frames and heavy sheets of glass, this rack would be priced well for the strength and stability it provides. It's also surprisingly light, allowing me to place this on top of the cubbies so I can see at a glance whatever projects are waiting to be finished, without fear of a large painting unbalancing and knocking the whole thing over. When flush against a wall, another place to put paintings is created at the back. And because I do like to collage on smaller pieces on occasion, it was easy to attach a quick pocket made out of some of the shipping materials to the sturdy metal rack. The design of this art rack is more versatile than the images let on. Such as there are 3 holes for every set of rods, meaning if I decided I wanted to install this right into a wall, and have it be a horizontal divider for much larger, heavier pieces (if I ever have the space), I could remove the feet and those middle holes could be used to anchor the rack to the wall. All in all, this is a sturdy, versatile art rack suited for heavy duty work, with a price point that reflects it. I'm honestly not sure if I'd consider this if on the hobbiest side of things or if I never made work larger than 11" x 14". This rack is perfect for medium-large pieces, which gives me the confidence to work larger now that I know I'll be able to store my art without worry it'll take over the space.

If you are an artist you are ALWAYS looking for space to put artwork: in progress and for completed paintings. I have mine leaning against walls, my easel, on tabletops...everywhere! I had not yet purchased an art storage rack - don't ask me why... I guess art supplies were always first on the list. Then I saw this rack and was surprised by the cost as, even though it is powder-coated metal, it's very competitive with inexpensive wooden racks - so I ordered it.The product comes disassembled and well packaged in separate bags to ensure against damage with an easy to follow on page instruction sheet. The manufacture has thought of everything so you can put this together without any other equipment: they even provide an Allen key, a small wrench, and, if you wish to use your drill, a drill bit that specifically fits the type of screw heads used. Extra parts are also included (2 additional screws, 2 extra nuts, and 2 additional rubber protective caps. Tip - look in the black rubber caps if you think you are missing screws or nuts - I had a couple hiding in them!)Putting the rack together only takes about 5 mins (to the point where you finger tighten everything) and then a couple minutes more to do final tightening. I used the Allen key and wrench... Easy-Peasy! When completed there are 4 standing braces allowing for 3 slots in which to place your canvasses - slots are 4 inches wide. The base is rather trapezoid allowing for smaller canvasses in front (paintings beginning around 8 incheswide), and for wider canvasses in back (up to approx 24 inches - I suspect that it can actually balance wider canvasses with ease.) Though I can't confirm this last bit of info specifically, the manufacturer states it can hold 60 lbs - wow! I think I'll get another one....

I put this together in under 10 minutes. Single sheet directions with pictures are very clear. There aren't any sharp edges on this, which I really like. You are provided all the tools you need to assemble it, including a drill bit if you choose to use one. You can easily do this with your fingers and the little regular and allen wrenches. Plus, they give you extra pads that go on the bottom of the legs and a couple of extra screws and nuts. It's very light weight, and its footprint is small. You can tell how many canvases you can put in the rack by seeing what I have shown and that there is still more room. This is a very well-made, sturdy rack and a great value for the $34.99 it costs. The design is simple. I highly recommend this art storage rack.

this rack does what it’s supposed to, but it’s not the most heavy-duty thing ever. metal pieces are decent and it holds canvases or boxes just fine but if you’re expecting something super solid, you might be a little let down.it’s lightweight which is nice for moving it around. assembly is about as easy as it gets, only took like 6 minutes and came with extra parts and all the tools you need which is always a plus.Wish the bolts were a tiny bit shorter but it still works as-is.it works well for storing smaller to mid-size canvases without them getting them messed up. I dont have many extra arts laying around, so I’ll probably just use it to store boxes! if you’ve got bigger frames or really thick canvases, it might be a little tight. the adjustable feet are nice so it doesn’t wobble all over the place, and there’s enough space between posts to fit a couple pieces without them touching. just don’t rest anything directly on the post tips or you might end up with indentations on your stuffoverall really decent. it's just a rack tho. it wont change the world or anything, but maybe i’ll actually get organized this year 👍🏼👍🏼
