Quality seems good and installation is pretty straight forward. Product page says no marine sealant or tools required - NOT TRUE. You must apply a below water line high grade sealant to two locations during the installation. Instructions are difficult to read and vague but it does mention applying sealant. In addition, a wrench is needed to tighten the thru hull nut an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn as stated in the installation guide.

I bought this to replace the circulating bait pump that was original equipment on my 2006 Shallow Sport. This pump is a waste of time and money. This pump will not pump unless primed. It IS NOT self priming. Once primed, it pumps, but I refuse to have to deal with priming every time I launch my boat. It’s already installed and sealed in. It also took contortionist skills to shoe horn it into my two battery compartment setup. Really not feeling like uninstalling it for a refund at this time, so I guess I’ll take the loss and replace it sometime latter with something reliable. I’ve used Attwood pumps for years without problems, but this one is a bust. Don’t waste your money on this one.Edit:Update: Initially, I ran the pump for several minutes and it would not pump without being manually primed. I didn’t run it dry any longer than a few minutes because I didn’t want it to burn up. However, today, I kicked it on just to see what would happen. I didn’t care if it burned up. It didn’t work anyways. I forgot all about it and noticed about 10 minutes later, it was pumping. I suppose it just takes quite a while to prime. I’ve updated to 3 stars because the instructions are pathetic and makes no mention of priming delay. It’s just a sheet of illustrations without any written instructions.

Replaced old unit with this, it pumps water like advertised. Nothing more to say.
