I bought the Avella V501 in March of 2024 for the eclipse and returned it because it drifted downward and I couldn't keep it locked in place. I wrote a review noting this so that people would be aware that it tended to drift and wouldn't stay in place. I received a very nice email from Avella offering to make it right by refund or replacement. But since I had already returned the item and time was short I simply thanked them for the offer and made do with the head I already had.Fast forward to June 2024 and I decided that due to their very kind email and since I still needed a fluid head, I would give them another shot. One good deed deserves another. So I purchased the Avella V504. Now in retrospect I don't really know now if I simply got a bad one the first time or possibly even user error. But this V504 works flawlessly. I'm a commercial photographer and I need my gear to work all of the time. The Avella V504 does everything that I need and stays locked in place when the situation requires. I cannot recommend this head enough. Everyone deserves a second chance. Avella has great customer service at least in my case, and this is, in my humble opinion, a great tripod head.

The actual fluid head has worked great. Somehow, I lost the tilt lock knob and without it the head is useless. I’ve been trying to find a contact for a replacement part, but haven’t had any success. If replacement parts are available I’d change this to a 5, if not, I think the 3 is correct.

These heads are all made by the same company and marketed under different names. I found the same head under 5 different brands and prices ranging from $45-65. I chose the $45. For the money, it's surprising. I bought it to top my Manfrotto CF stills tripod 055CXPRO, which normally has a RRS ball head. I found the Small Rig tiny head way too small and unstable and the Neewer $100 head too big. My Nikon rig weighs about 7 lbs. I gave it 5 stars, not because it's in the league of a real fluid head of Sachtler quality, but because for under $50., it's amazing - for what it is. I was able to balance the head using the slider and camera placement on plate. There's not a lot - or any - drag adjustability. You have to be OK with a fairly smooth tilt/pan with what I would consider moderate drag. Trying to make it tighter creates bumps and snags. Looser doesn't really exist. But as a lightweight head for compact lightweight legs and a light load, it's perfect. I'm a hard critic on gear and this thing works for my needs in this area. Don't know how long it will last, but I don't expect it to be a lifetime investment like my Sachtlers.

This head is just what I was looking for to use with my camera track. Solid construction with great operating features.

This tripod head provides smooth movement both up and down and side to side. The removable handle is adjustable in length and collapses to a compact size for travel. The locking mechanisms are sturdy enough to hold my mirrorless camera with a 100-400mm lens fully extended. It is more lightweight than the MF counterpart, and the quick release plate is compatible with that line of tripods as well. The plate lock is simple, yet firm and secure so you don't have to worry about your expensive equipment unexpectedly breaking free from the head.I installed this originally on a cheaper pair of sticks that had come with a traditional still camera ball head. Comparatively though, the head was too large and the tripod lost some of its stability, so I ended up purchasing a smaller sized pair of multistage sticks designed to be used with a video head.I now have no complaints about the head's operation and was very pleased with the low price point. For amateur moviegoers or professionals like me on a shoestring budget, this is a fantastic alternative to the traditionally expensive fluid heads needed for consistent smooth motion in video work.

These things are great very sturdy, priced reasonably and very versatile I have one on my extension boom and the other on my primary tripod. The only thing that would have made it better would be if it came with both a long and short camera mount bracket as I had to round the front end of the camera mount to clear the spot where the lens diameter expands bigger than the base of the A6600 it is mounted on. Looking at some of these other reviews it is amazing that they have never heard of thread locking compound to stop the head from coming loose from the tripod

The product is sturdy. It is tight to move around. My biggest problem is that the 3/8" works great on any tripod. I have an older tripod that only has the 1/4". This comes with an adapter but, when I put it on and turn it to the right it wants to come off the screw making it pointless since then the camera would also come off and fall. It is supposed to go left and right smoothly and stay on the tripod. I will be looking for another fluid head to see if I can find a better one.
