I use them for my pool work. I would like a pair a long nose of the same quality.

I bought this to open bottles in the kitchen because I have neuropathy in my hands (from chemotherapy) which makes it hard to get a good grip. It works great for that purpose. I used to use a regular set of pliers but they rusted. Then I used a stainless steel bottle opener tool, but it was not as comfortable to use.The good:They open small bottle caps (such as soda sized caps) with ease. They are bright shiny stainless steel and at least so far, show no sign of rusting in the kitchen use.Used for a kitchen tool they seem to very good quality. The appear to be compatible with cleaning in a dishwasher (though I have not tried that yet).Could use Improvement:The jaws do not open wider than for small bottle caps.Padding on the handles would be nice. They are pretty pricy for a kitchen tool, but should last about forever in that use.General Note:In general shop or garage tool use, stainless steel tools are generally not as strong as a well made carbon steel tool of the same size and design. And they cost more because chromium is a much more expensive material than iron so frequently stainless steel tools are made thinner than a well made carbon steel version - Which makes the difference in ultimate strength even more significant. Only use stainless steel tools where the rust resistance is of primary importance and you can tolerate a tool that is less strong. That’s why I use these in the kitchen.

One star is the lowest, but the pair I got didn't even deserve that, they broke within the first few times i used them.I'm not a terribly large or strong person and I was using, not abusing the pliers when they snapped, tightening a hose fitting in the garden. The entire jaw on the bent piece snapped off, rendering the tool completely useless.

I have quite a few Aven Stainless Steel tools, and this is my first disappointment. I don't know whether quality control/design has slipped, or this tool came out of a bad metallurgy batch. My Aven 10365 Stainless Steel Groove Join Pliers RUST. OK, almost all stainless will rust under some circumstance, but these rust overnight when left outside. When left outside with a group of Aven tools, only these rust.Further, the slip joint mechanism has worn out with only slight usage. Applying only hand strength, the slip joint will give and drop to another level. OUCH!They are now in my metal recycle box as I don't know what metal I have; so how can I reuse it for a future widget?
