Perfect for what I was looking for in a dry fly box. The build quality seems great for the price and the latching mechanisms seem like they will hold up over time. Some other reviews had concerns about the case not latching closed, for my use, the case closes enough and I have no concern of it accidentally opening up. Would buy again.

The nostalgia is part of it but really I love the fact my dry flies aren't smashed, and I still have room for wets and enough nymphs for a one box solution, as if I ever only carried one

I was looking for a box to accommodate some of my wet flies (slit foam) as well as some attractor dries(compartments.) So far I am very pleased with the box and it looks and feels really nice.I would not recommend this as a main, working box as the durability of the compartments is suspect. However, as long as your expectations are well tempered then this may be an excellent fit for your needs.

The compartments are larger than other boxes of this style. ( Which results in fewer compartments). This makes it easier to remove flies and less likely for flies to pop out if you don’t control force of spring while opening compartments. The slit foam portion is typical and therefore will probably weaken over time but allows easy insertion and removal of flies. The construction doesn’t feel quite as sturdy as some other boxes of this style. (This makes them a bit lighter)-But I am hoping they will hold up over time.I am moving towards setting up my boxes to hold all stages of the hatch of each particular fly (Sometimes two )Ie- a Sulphur box, a BWO/Midge box, etc. These boxes are perfect for that type of organization.I will be buying a lot of them.

I bought two of these boxes to replace a larger one that I had for fifteen years. The box is great, with individual compartments that have a separate spring loaded lid for each. I had found the same style of box, for four times the price, prior to purchasing this one.

This is my favorite fly box! I like the individual pop open compartment, I can keep multiple sizes of the same fly pattern or just multiple flies in the same compartment. The spring release doors work well except for the very end compartments. Too much gap between the doors and the frame and the door can be pushed in too far when closing and then you need a knife blade or something to pry the door open. I am aware of this now so not much of an issue now. The other side holds a bunch of flies with easy in and out of flies. I like the anodized red finish and the aluminum is solid with an effective closure. This is my favorite fly box!
