This is either just a bad cable or the product overall is defective. I purchased this one because I had one that looked nearly identical that's worked like a champ. I used that one with my Apple ][, ADTPro, and tsb-client for forwarding telnet data. I had a need (desire) to connect a Commodore 64 for similar reasons. I couldn't wait for this one to come in, so I just repurposed the Apple ][ cable for the TTL adapter I fashioned for the C64 user's port. When this cable came in, I attached it to my Apple ][ and was saddened to see that ADT Pro no longer worked. I typed in IN#2 and found characters came through garbled. I started wondering if it was my Apple ][ so I kept fiddling with my Super Serial Card's settings, pulling other cards in an out (I had done some upgrades recently), but to no avail. I decided today just to switch back to the original cable. Bam, the connection to my Apple ]['s serial port was working perfectly again. I took this cable and attached it to the Commodore to connect to a BBS and I started getting the same garbled mess I was getting on the Apple ][. I've done all the usual things like install their driver over the one in the Microsoft database and fiddled with every setting under the sun, which doesn't mean much because I have very specific needs. This one seems to use the same chipset as the other cable, so there shouldn't be any difference in settings. I've become a pro on the settings page for these and see nothing that could make this thing work. Either there's a bad connection somewhere or the there's a flaw in the cable. It's pretty disheartening to have gone through all this troubleshooting just to find out the cable's bad. I should have listened to some of the other reviews.Stay away from this thing. I'm going to try my best to disassemble it to see if I can fix it, but if not, I'll be requesting a refund. Sigh. So much time wasted.

This adapter was part of a 4 adapter setup needed to reprogram a SUPER old silk screen computer. We needed to take a modern day laptop, and downgrade it all the way to a unique 'OMRON' PLC program cable. This bridged most of the gap and was super helpful. The build is quite sturdy, and the DB9 end has bright LED's that let you know data transfer is happening. In our case that was a saving grace as it was one of the only ways to tell that the computer was communicating with the PLC. Very thankful of this adapter.

Spent hours chasing my tail checking COM port settings between 2 machines only to later discover this thing is just corrupting data. Used another device and everything worked perfectly. This is junk. Do not buy.

It seems like the serial port controller (ch340) on this adapter , has some issue with it randomly corrupting data. Like for example I have old printer that uses serial port , and with this adapter it can't print correctly, but using a real serial port , it works fine, and both are set exactly the same etc.

This USB converter interfaces to the serial interface on my old KPC-3 Terminal Node Controller that I use for my Ham/Amateur Radio Packet station. This setup brings the KPC-3 into the modern world. I have used this converter without issue or need of drivers on a couple of my different Gnu/Linux OS’s even though there is a mini disc with drivers included. In my case, I needed the 9 pin to 25 pin adapter because the KPC-3 has a DB-25 connector, and the price of some of these are as much, or more than this package, so all in all, a great value too. Some people may like it, but I find the blue color a bit off putting, as I would rather it was in traditional beige or black. However, not so much that I wouldn’t buy it or knock offs any points in the evaluation.Bottom line, it’s a great performer for a great price.I also appreciated the fast delivery by all concerned.

This was an integral part of networking my Apple IIc to my Win10 machine. Will have many uses for other vintage hardware with com ports.
