Keeping an Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) as a pet is one of the exceptional and fun experiences that any pet parents and hobbyists can get. This unique amphibian is an aquatic salamander that can live entirely in water. Although this creature has fully formed legs, axolotl does not require land access. Unlike other salamander types, it didn’t go through a metamorphic process of becoming land-dwellers. It features a slender body, four thin legs, a wide head, small black eyes, and a cute smiling face. Caring for axolotls is not complicated if you understand their behavior and basic needs. One of the essential considerations when preparing for your pet’s new habitat is the decorations you will put inside because they must work with Axolotl’s needs.

The axolotl is more active during the night, and its sleeping habit is more like resting and just staying still. This is the perfect hide for my 3yo axolotl. The entrance and inside are perfectly smooth and safe for its delicate skin. Not too big, just the right size for him to feel safe and snug.

Bought this for a hide for my axolotl and it was making the water a reddish color. Definitely was dissolving in the water. Maybe better for a blizzard but not an axolotl.

Great for smaller axolotls an or fish or crabs whatever you may have but it is natural an is on the smaller side

If you are using this for an axolotl, it is very small. Will not accommodate anything over about 3-4”.
