Installed with a new distributor cap and rotor and it runs like a dream. Up to full speed same as new. I had to use the old screws because the ones that came with the sensor were too long. Other than that, easy install and great result.

I got an awesome deal on a nice boat with a 1994 4.3 MerCruiser Thunderbolt I IV Distributor that didn't have spark.I had spark going into the Distributor and found there had to be a short. After replacing the sensor, I finally have spark going to the spark plugs. I'm so happy. I had to leave a review) lol.

The Mercruiser 5L motor would quit running but would start up and run rough and quit. The decision was made by a mechanic friend that came down and started the motor and ran beautifully for 10 minutes and said nothing was wrong with the engine and it runs nice but he said if it quits, call him and he would come back down. We took it out and it quit. We talked to him on the phone and came up to buy a new sensor for the distributor. Bought the REGITAR USA B0784MSV3P Ignition Senor Kit for the Mercuiser Thunderbolt I IV Distributor for $45.00 on Amazon and it said we would have it on Monday. It came Tuesday and put in the distributor and the engine did not fire at all, nothing. Took out and put the original Mercruiser back in and it fired and ran but rough and finally quit acting like it did before. I then decided to buy the original Mercruiser Part Number that was superceded to 87-892150Q02. Ordered on Wednesday and got it on Thursday and put it in and now the engine is back to normal and runs perfectly. Aftermarket part was bought on Amazon and the Mercruiser part was not. Cost on the Mercuiser part was $61.38 with free shipping. If this was not it, I would have to buy the electronic box which is over $500.00. Thankfully it was the sensor. At first, we replace the cap and rotor, then the wires were not neatly put into the cap so I was arranging them nicely and had to move the coil wire. when I tried to turn the wire in the coil, it came loose and I took it out. It turned out that the wire was broken and the insulation was burned and the spark was jumping the gap to fire the engine. I cut the bad out and put back into the cooper connector and put back into the coil thinking this was my problem and it wasn't. And them we decided to buy the aftermarket Sensor which did not work at all. Hope this helps someone. Picture shows the aftermarket I got on Amazon and the Mercruiser one that worked on the boat.
