This BALDR solar digital pool thermometer is a game-changer! The dual LCD screens make it super easy to read the temperature from different angles, and the RGB LED lights add a fun touch to the pool at night. The lighting effects are vibrant, and it floats perfectly without drifting too much. Plus, the waterproof design holds up great—no issues with leaks or damage. The solar charging is a nice bonus, so there’s no need to worry about batteries. Overall, an excellent thermometer that’s both functional and stylish!

Simple and convenient to use... just drop it in the water, tie it to the side of the pool, and forget about it. You can get an accurate pool temperature without reaching into the water to pull out the 'old school" thermometer. You can keep your hands dry. We *do* have a digital pool maintenance system, which allows us to check the temperature... however the thermometer on that system is notoriously inaccurate and the sensor has had to be replaced many times. This is simple, inexpense, solar-powered device solves that problem for us. We can just walk to the edge of the pool, glance at the float, and see the temperature. We haven't used the light-show features yet, but I'm sure we will the next time we have an night-time pool party.

We have been needing a new pool thermometer and really like that this one from BALDR was solar powered and had fun lights! The button allows you to choose what color light you want; or, if you'd prefer, it'll cycle through all the options. We tested the temperature gauge and it seems accurate (compared to our existing thermometer). Our kids love swimming with all the lights.

This thermometer is so convenient! Now I don’t have to fish it out of the pool or get my hands in the cold water to check the temperature. There are two screens showing the temp digitally in Fahrenheit or Celsius, and it’s solar powered so you don’t have to deal with batteries. The light is surprisingly bright and there are different settings. However, it won’t work if it wasn’t sunny that day because it won’t have enough energy. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE MANUAL, you’re going to need it if you ever need to change any of the settings.

So far, so good.I have several observations on the temperature gauge.1. The ON/OFF & C/F logos on the top are white on white and very hard to read. I used a marked so that I could see which was which when setting the lights up.2. The screenshots in the manual are tiny. Icons referred to are not obvious when trying to read them.3. Device appears well made.4. Temperature readings are certainly easy to read. I had the gauge tethered initially but have now set it free so that I can see the lighting better at night.5. Scanning the QR code for the extended warranty REQUIRES giving them a credit card number. I will NOT do that. They say that they will NOT charge it...but still. I did send them an email requesting the upgrade to 2 year warranty. I have NOT heard back "yet".6. There is a card in the box offering 6 month return or exchange. I have no idea how that actually works. They do provde a US toll Free & UK toll free phone numbers for service as well as an email address. As I said "so far, so good". I will update the review if I have any more information at a later date.1 star deducted for the white on white labeling on the device top and the tiny images in the manual.Update 3/24/2025Email received back with extension to 2 year warranty. So, best to use email versus s sinning the QR code.Update 3/25/2025As of yet, I have NOT managed to get the lights to stay on (probably something I am doing wrong ( I think). I have written to Baldr for advice. Baldr wrote back to me overnight with these instructions to set the lights, see below:Thank you for reaching out! Here's a simple guide to set your thermometer's lighting for 2 hours:1. Long press the ON/OFF button to power on.2. Long press the ℃/℉ button to enter Light Control Mode.3. Short press the ON/OFF button to switch to Time Control Mode.4. Short press the ℃/℉ button to confirm and start setting your countdown timer.5. Short press the ON/OFF button until you set it to 0.6. Short press ℃/℉ button to confirm.Once that's done, your thermometer will light up and follow a cycle of 2 hours on and 22 hours off. What was still not clear is whether this needs to be done at a certain time (say 8PM) to get the 2 hours on to run followed by the 22 OFF. I'll update when I hear back from Baldr again. So, final instructions that I received from BALDR are shown below. I have raised the review to 5* as their support is excellent.Thank you for reaching out! Here's a simple guide to set your thermometer's lighting for 2 hours:1. Long press the ON/OFF button to power on.2. Long press the ℃/℉ button to enter Light Control Mode.3. Short press the ON/OFF button to switch to Time Control Mode.4. Short press ℃/℉ button to confirm.Once that's done, your thermometer will light up and follow a cycle of 2 hours on and 22 hours off!For your specific case, if you want the timer to turn on at 7pm, you have a couple of options:Option 1: Set the countdown timer to 0 and simply set at 7 PM.Option 2: If you prefer, you can set the countdown timer to 9 and then set at 10 AM.In this case, the light will turn on every day from 7 PM to 9 PM.Just remember, the countdown number indicates how many hours until the lights turn on. This concept works similarly for any other countdown times and set it at any times you want throughout the day. I hope this helps clarify things!Update 3/27/2025OK, I have just written back to BALDR support again as I cannot get the lights to stay on having gone through the procedure above multiple times. Sometimes I get no lights at all, other times I get a rotating set of lights of the various colors but they do NOT stay on. Maybe this unit is faulty. Maybe it getting sent back. I'll see what their support person says next.Update 4/1/2025Baldr support (a lady called Flora, who has been excellent) has decided to replace the unit as defective. I asked about changing light settings and received the clearer instructions as below. The Baldr support has been very good, so I still recommend this product.Light settings----------------LED Light Modes:Turning On:Power On: The white light will display when powered on for the first time.Switch Light Mode: Press the ON/OFF button.Single-Color Mode:Red Light: Press once.Green Light: Press twice.Blue Light: Press three times.White Light: Press four times.Next Mode (Dual-Color): Press five times.Dual-Color Mode:Red-Green Light: Press once.Blue-Green Light: Press twice.Red-Blue Light: Press three times.Next Mode (Flashing): Press four times.Flashing Mode:Lights will flash in a repeating pattern of single and dual colors.IMPORTANT: The modes mentioned above only work when you power on the thermometer for the first time. The product remembers your last settings, so when you turn it back on, it will start in the mode you last used. You can set it to your desired light following the pattern described above.

I needed a new temp gauge for the pool after my last one started to fog up. This one is bigger and has two read outs which is nice so you can see it from more angles. It has a light underneath that can come auto on/off according to the day/night schedule or you can tell it to come on at a certain timed event. You can choose many colors or it can flash different colors. I needed it more for the temp feature rather than the light feature but it's an added bonus. The temp appears to be accurate and matches my last thermometer.

Easy assembly (screw the pieces together). Display works fine and the color adds a nice touch to the pool. Cord included to tie off

I usually just buy the cheap pool thermometers that you have to pull out of the water to read the gauge. I was getting tired of the gauges getting foggy and hard to read, and they usually only last one summer in Arizona. I've only had this one a few weeks and it's not quite swimming weather yet, but I already love it. It's so nice that it's solar powered and has 2 digital displays so I don't have to pull the thermometer out to read it. We haven't used the lights yet, but I did test them out inside when I first assembled it and I think it will be fun for night swims with our kids and friends. It seemed pretty expensive to me for a pool thermometer, but considering the features and hopefully longevity, I think it's a decent value. My minor complaint is that it didn't come with the rope to tie it to the wall, so it's just been floating around the pool and sometimes blocking the skimmer outlet. I'll probably just get some rope to anchor it.
