I purchased this old fashioned outdoor thermometer to supplement two other digital ones when I discovered that, when the outside temperature drops below zero degrees Fahrenheit, the digital outdoor probes stop working and are unable to transmit radio signals to the main indoor console. I suppose the electronics in the probes are frozen and no signal is received to indicate the outdoor temperature. This thermometer is quite big and easy to see, about 12 inches in diameter, and appears solidly built, with a metal case around it and approximately two pounds in weight. It has a spot on its back where one can hang it if there is a longer hook or nail in the wall. I used vinyl siding hooks for hanging but they are a bit short and cannot be used for the above mentioned spot, so I used the metal frame that has a small indentation around it to place the thermometer high enough to be seen from indoor. As far as the accuracy in reading the temperature, I was impressed by how close it came to the temperature read by my two other digital thermometers. When the weather warmed up a bit, not zero or below degrees, the analog thermometer’s readings were within a couple degrees higher compared with the digital ones. Which is quite impressive for such an old fashion device. Overall I am very happy with it and it’s quite pretty with the colors used for its screen. Definitely would recommend it.

Bought about 1.5 years ago. Always seemed off by a few degrees. When it got really cold (teens to close to single digits), was off by about 5-7 degrees.Nice looking thermometer for outdoor use, but prefer accuracy.

Purchased to be used as a thermometer inside of "Baby Chicken" house.This was to be the "safety net".The heating system for those baby chickens was controlled by calibrated electronic device.Could not believe that the temps that this "thermometer" displayed were ..... "all over the board".It offered temperature readings as much as 12 degrees colder and 10 degrees warmer than control device.Placed another thermometer (different supplier) in the chicken house.Temps were in fact parallel to the electronic control device.Maybe this one had been knocked out of calibration, somehow ??? ..... who knows ???The cost on this item was $12 ..... in order that I return it; I will invest $50 in energy to accomplish.I am reminded of "Lesson Learned ..... "you get what you pay for !!!" (Time to "let-it-go & move on". ).
