I love making handmade books, so this bamboo book binding kit is a must-have for me. The piercing awl is very sharp and can make holes quickly, while the wax thread and needle are very strong to ensure a secure binding. The whole kit is very complete, and the binder is also very useful, which makes it easy for me to bind different pages together.

This it I has some good basic supplies to get you started with bookbinding or bookmarking. I especially love the stand that you rest your spine in so you can punch the holes in easily. That is really a handy thing to have although not necessary. Also really handy is the template to mark your holes and evenly space them for easy punching of the holes. This will make preparing books much easier.

The cradle works well for 2 or 3 sheets of standard weight copy paper. Not effective with thicker paper or cardstock. In an effort to punch more pages at a time, I pushed very hard with the awl, and the cradle split in half. (for the record, I am a petite person and not muscular)The other items included in the package are handy, but I can;t use any of them now that the cradle is destroyed. Might be better to spend a bit more to purchase a higher quality product.

I don’t often sit down to bind a book, but when the mood strikes, I want the process to be as frustration-free as possible. Before I got this kit, I’d spend more time measuring and re-measuring my hole placements than actually stitching anything together. Let’s just say my last attempt at a handmade journal looked more like a wonky accordion than a book you’d want to give to anyone. Enter this bookbinding kit, and suddenly, I feel like a pro!The punching cradle is a game-changer. No more squinting at rulers and hoping I got the spacing right—just line up the paper, use the guide, and voila! Perfectly spaced holes every time. I appreciated the attention to detail, too, like the included waxed threads and thimble (which saved my poor fingers on more than one occasion). Some will call this a beginner kit - and maybe it is - but I think it's also great for the more experience occasional crafter as well.This set has everything a dabbler like me needs without overwhelming you with unnecessary tools. Even if you’re a casual crafter who only picks up a project every few months, this kit will make you want to keep going. I’m already planning a new notebook for my niece, who thinks I’m some kind of wizard for making a real book by hand! Highly recommend this for anyone who loves bookbinding but hates the hassle of all that precise measuring. Well constructed and easy to use with the core tools needed to keep this part of the process moving along.

The signature punch is not good quality. The holes are off center on the top and bottom of the punch; so it’s useless for getting correct holes in your signatures. Additionally, most of these have magnets to keep the guide in place so it doesn’t shift while you’re punching. This one doesn’t. Points for most of the accessories with it, it’s a solid waxed thread, awl, and scissor set. The needles aren’t for binding. You should only use the curved needles as they’re the easiest to maneuver thru the signatures.

I love it. This bookbinding pack can fit all in one wooden box. It is very well designed and thought out. I think it is very reasonably priced for all that you get and I overall I could not be more pleased. I think this would make a great gift idea for those book makers or crafters in your life. I love that they all and the tools included are very high quality. I have already made a couple of signatures using this kit and I’m very happy with it.
