Benro S6 PRO Flat Base Fluid Video Head, 13.2 lb Max, 6 Step Counterbalance (0-5), 1/4'-20 Accessory Mounts, 3/8'-16 Head Mount, w/Pan Arm (S6PRO)

I have just started to get into video and obviously needed a fluid tripod head. I have an oldish Manfrotto 138RC and tried that but if felt unrefined and it was hard to get silky smooth pans.So I got a Sirui VA-5 and a gorgeous little tripod with levelling. My new camcorder despite being apparently the lightest 4k available when combined with a nice shotgun mic & monitor, whilst being technically within weight limit completely overwhelmed it. I was going to sell it but it is perfect for my then to be purchased Nikon ZF.So onto this head with adjustable counterbalance, I now mount the Lilliput monitor on the tripod itself and so only need 2 or 3 on the adjustable balance.I'm sure there are better heads around but for me this works just great. I recently videoed my niece's wedding and it was really enjoyable panning and tilting and zooming !

Après avoir utilisé une rotule vidéo premier prix Cayer H6, puis Cayer H10 ( niveau du dessus mais toujours basique), rotule que je conserve pour la randonnée, pour sa légèreté, sa fluidité horizontale. Je suis passé au niveau au dessus: Manfrotto 501 qui s'est avérée trop lourde et les réglages pas terribles, puis Neweer GM006 qui m'a plu au départ et qui s'est avérée désastreuse en pratique. Amortissement Horizontal" ZERO pointé", poignée impossible à bloquer. Seul point à peu prêt positif la rotation horizontale fluide qui par la suite se déréglait sans arrêt.Heureusement il a été possible de retourner facilement toutes ces rotules.Enfin j'ai acheté la Benro S6, une des rotules haut de gamme chez BENRO avec la S8.Poids sur la balance: 1,310 kg, taille moyenne, peu encombrante.Premier contact:- Produit de bonne facture, conception traditionnelle bien réalisée et efficace, pas de mise en place du plateau par simple pression ( sur la Neewer j'ai failli laisser tombé mon boitier+ optique l'enclenchement ne s'étant pas fait)-La mise en place du plateau se fait par glissement, le plateau Benro est superbe.-L'ensemble de la rotule respire la solidité, la qualité et les réglages ont été faciles à obtenir.Premier essai avec un boitier D800+ Sigma 120/300 f2.8.-Pour régler l’équilibrage vertical et la rotation horizontale mettre tous les 2 boutons "bleu" de part et d'autre de la rotule à ZÉRO.-Mettre le support de plateau à l'horizontal, poignée de manœuvre en place et réglée à la longueur d'utilisation, important, elle influence le point de stabilité vertical.-QUAND TOUT EST BIEN PLAN, mettre en place le groupe Objectif + Boitier et régler le plateau dans le support en avançant ou en reculant l'ensemble pour trouver le point d'équilibre du groupe.-Ce dernier trouvé marquer la place exacte du plateau sur le support avec un marqueur type "Pentex blanc", cette marque permettra de remettre le groupe à sa place exacte et de ne pas recommencer tous les réglages.-1- RÉGLER en PRIORITE la FRICTION pour la BASCULE VERTICALE, puisen 2- la DURETE sur le plan HORIZONTAL.-ATTENTION à la bascule de l'ensemble lors de ces réglages.Pour mon groupe je suis sur le 5 bouton friction, poids du groupe 4,5kgPour la dureté horizontal réglage selon sa pratique photo ou vidéo.-Si tout est bien fait le groupe boitier+optique tient seul en équilibre stable, la fluidité est bonne mais non libre. En manipulant l'ensemble, le plateau ne bascule pas en AV ou en AR à la moindre sollicitation. S'il devait partir vers l'avant le réglage fait que la chute est lente et ensuite diminue progressivement pour termine au ralenti..Pour l'instant les premiers essais me confortent dans cet achat, je crois avoir trouvé la rotule qui correspond à ma pratique photo. Je ne manquerais pas de revenir après les premiers affûts pour faire le point et rester enfin sur une rotule qui remplie tous les critères de ma pratique photo à affût.

Wer mit einem langbrennweitigen Objektiv Vögel im Flug fotografieren will, der benötigt einen Stativkopf der ruckfreie Schwenks in der horizontalen und vertikalen ermöglicht. Optimalerweise sollte man die Friktion in allen Richtungen anpassen können, damit man beim Verfolgen nicht über das Ziel hinaus schießt oder nicht hinterher kommt. Außerdem sollte man die Kamera auch mal loslassen können ohne dass Kamera und Objektschlagartig nach vorne oder hinten abkippen und womöglich noch Schaden nehmen. Gimbals sind zwar in dieser Disziplin sehr gut, bieten aber keine variable Friktion.Die nächste wichtige Rahmenbedingung ist ein nicht zu großes Gewicht und Packmaß.Fluidneiger gibt es in allen Größen, Preis- und Gewichtsklassen. Wenn man jedoch einen Kopf sucht der deutlich unter 2kg wiegt und trotzdem variable Friktion (Fluideffekt) für beide Achsen bietet und dazu noch ein variable Gegengewichtseinstellung besitzt, dann wird die Luft schnell dünn! Der Benro S6 Pro war der einzige Kopf den ich finden konnte, der alle technischen Kriterien erfüllt und mit 1,7kg noch tragbar ist. Meine Sony A9 mit 200-600mm und Extender lässt sich auf Stufe 4 gut ausbalanciert.Die Geschmeidigkeit des Fluideffekt ist einen Tick schlechter als bei meinem Manfrotto 504HD, aber der ist auch riesig und wiegt 3,5kg!! Die Einstellung Friktionseinstellungen laufen beim Manfrotto viel linearer als beim Benro. Beim Benro ändert sich beim Drehen im niederen Viskositätsbereich erst mal wenig und steigt erst am End des Drehwegs relativ steil an.Trotzdem kann man auch beim Benro die Friktion einstellen wie man es braucht und man darf natürlich auch den Preis nicht außer Acht lassen. Für 185€ bietet dieser Kopf eine ausgezeichnete Leistung, finde ich. In einem Youtube Review wurde berichtet, dass der Kopf ein leichtes Spiel in der Neigeachse hätte, obwohl der Lock-Hebel zum Anschlag gedreht war. Dieses Spiel weist mein Kopf (noch?) nicht auf.Alles in allem ist der Benro S6 Pro für meine Zwecke ziemlich gut geeignet. Ich vergebe daher 4 Sterne. Keine 5, weil er nunmal nicht auf Manfrotto oder Sachtler-Niveau ist.

Best fluid head for the price. Definitely a great buy.

This would have been an ideal budget friendly head. I really like the counter balance adjustment, and I can find good settings for all three of my cameras with different weights. However, the one I received has a panning base that is visibly tilted. There is a visible gap between the base and the drag adjusting ring, and the gap is noticeably larger on one side than the other. As a result the panning motion is uneven at any drag setting, and is a lot tighter on one side than the other. I can clearly feel the grinding within the base when it is on the tight side.

Great unit, motion control is excellent and can be dialed into whatever you for slow pans with 8K 24p landscape footage to 4K 60 sports rapid pans/tilt. Unit is very solid, not super heavy but does have some weight to it ... currently using it with a Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod.To use the counter balance steps (5) effectively you need to do the following:1. Make sure everything you need is mounted to the camera and/or camera cage2. Position camera on plate and note index, estimate where you think CG will be3. Set Counter Balance index to 04. Set Fluid Drag control to least resistance5. Slide camera (on plate)6. Place angle measure tool on camera and adjust position until 0 degree reading (see images)7. Lock in place8. Adjust pan and tilt resistance as desired9. unlock10. should stay level and not drop forward or backward, if it does, adjust counter balance dial until it doesn't, if you too far out of range from counter balance, they repeat step 6The light for the level circle seems a bit of a gimmick but maybe some shoots need the camera perfectly level?Since this can be a tedious, suggest taking not of attached equipment, camera position on plate, and plate position on head (mark as needed). Of course there are more expensive options ... much more expensive options, but for the $240 I paid, it's good enough for my current needs.

Arrived in time and feels very solid. Eager to go out to try it.

Does the job but not with much weight atop!

Got this for digiscoping/glassing with my spotting scope, so the adjustable counterbalance was a key feature. With the Nikon Monarch 82ED fieldscope and Nikon D3300 camera body it takes the highest level counterbalance and slid nearly all the way forward. Without the camera it is slid backwards a little bit and a level 3 counterbalance. Really nice to have something that works great in either setup in this price range.The quality of the piece is excellent overall.The tilt drag is pretty good. More of an exponential adjustment, but easy to get where you want.The pan drag I'm not really fond of, but for this price range is good enough. Since I'm not really shooting video it doesn't affect me very much though.

Davvero una ottimo prodotto, solido, robusto, ma soprattutto molto flessibile. Ogni movimento è regolabile e risulta sempre estremamente fluido. E' un prodotto per chi ha alti livelli di standard e sa come utilizzare (configurare) tutte le funzioni disponibili.

I needed a fluid head that had true adjustable fluid drag for both pan and tilt, as well as an adjustable counterbalance spring for tilt. This was the best one I could find in this price range. Unlike the vertical tilt drag, the horizontal pan drag adjustment does require turning farther than what would be expected when changing from more drag to less or visa-versa. If you need a stable pan drag, this is fine, but if you need to adjust the pan drag while using the head, it would be a problem. Vertical does not have this problem. The head had some pan drag variability when first received, and the seller was very helpful in working through this. After a couple of weeks it settled out.From what I could find, it would seem that I would have needed to spend about twice as much for another brand that had the same features (and probably not the play in the increase/decrease of the pan drag), but for my needs of a stable pan drag, this head has everything I hoped for. It works well and I'm very pleased with it.

For the price, I don’t think this head can be beat. It’s the perfect size and weight for small mirrorless cameras. Pan and tilt are smooth, although ideally there would be more drag available. The flat base makes it a good match for small sliders.
