They came vacuum packed so they look a little misshapen in one photo. Once they got wet and set out they were perfect. Nice quality and worked great. I like the super closed cells on these because it makes them really smooth.

I first thought that these sponges were not good, but I realized after using them that they are just what was advertised. Don’t be deterred ( as I first was) by their flat arrival.

There are different sponges for different uses and purposes. These are synthetic and very smooth. They do not have a natural texture because they are not organic. The shipped shrink wrapped and very thin, and they didn't puff up much once I opened the package, but once I got one wet and let it soak up water, it did expand to a regular size pottery sponge, although very light weight. It does hold quite a bit of water for its size and easily wring out to fairly dry. I think they are good for smoothing out the surface or damp clay. I can not yet speak for their longevity. Reasonably priced for a 6 pack.
