I do basic bike maintenance for myself and this works for my purposes--removing the gear cassette when I need to replace. Does what I need for cheap!

Not a quality build, there was lots of flashing on the handle which was misaligned and the edge of the sheet metal is jagged. However it’s a simple tool and it works great, so given the price this is a good purchase if you aren’t going to use this everyday.

Strong functional tool that is very inexpensive and works well to grip a sprocket. It may look a bit crude and, yes, you could make something like it yourself, but it arrived quickly and there is no need to hunt for a suitable short length of bicycle chain and a sturdy bar.

Worried about buying something so much cheaper (at least at the time) than the alternatives. People said it fell apart. Not at all!!It’s incredibly sturdy for the price. I ordered two to take apart a 1960s Suntour Pro Comp freewheel and I got both small gears removed without any hesitation from these champs!Made from bicycle chains and a flat stamped thick and long sheet of metal. Luckily the red plastic end grips just slid off and I used a bare hammer to repeatedly strike at the edges of both whips. And not so much as a complaint from either whip.Gave me a big satisfying smile on my face to see how easy and fun the whole process was.Could not recommend them enough.

At a good price and well made. It should last for many years as it is pretty sturdy. All metal construction except the plastic cover to get a good grip. Works on all cassettes I used it on. Shimano and Campy. From 7 to 11 speeds that I tried it on. Maybe even 12 speeds, but I have nothing with 12 speeds.

I have a 10 speed cassette which I was transferring from an old set of wheels to a newer one. Bought this chain whip because I didn't want to spend tons of money on a tool I would use infrequently. It worked well for my use-case. I have had to remove the cassette a few times to clean out the free hub and it has worked great every time.If you have a lock nut that is really stuck, I would recommend buying a breaker bar with a long handle to use in addition to the chain whip. Using my breaker bar with a socket along with this chain whip made it super easy to get the lock nut off.

I used it once, it worked great to get the cassette screw loose but continued to slip off when I put new cassette on. I think it is a good tool but my chain is narrow and this chain is wide. I would suggest making separate tool for narrow sprockets.
