This is my second cook with the egg genius and it is amazing! First cook was pork ribs at 225 and egg genius kept the pit temp right where I wanted it! Kids said they were the best ribs ever! Second cook is in process 11lb pork butt. Going to be awhile but the egg genius is keeping the pit temp right where I want it 225. Initially It took a couple of try’s to get connected to wifi but nothing unusual. Just followed the instructions. Can’t recommend it enough. Allows me to do other things rather than baby sit the cooking.

Bought this for my husband and he is so happy with it. A bit pricey. Not sure if the cheaper off brands would do the same or not.

I spend hours every year resetting and reconnecting to WiFi. Works great when it works but inconvenient when it won’t remain connected to WiFi. Spent the last 30 min in the reset cycle. Was connected since 10 last night then suddenly I want to smash it

Using the GREEN EGG GENIUS was a total game changer! For the first time, I smoked a brisket without constantly worrying about temperature control. This device takes all the guesswork out of managing the Green Egg; I didn’t have to fiddle with the top and bottom vents constantly. It maintained steady heat and let me relax, knowing my brisket would turn out perfectly. If you want to enjoy the smoking process instead of babysitting the grill, this is an absolute must-have!Don't get me wrong... Always fun hanging by the grill, but this baby makes it a breeze.

Very difficult to connect to WiFi. Very difficult to connect direct. Would not buy it again. Had I tried to use it closer to the purchase date I would return it.

Today is my first use. The installation instructions are lacking so you have to look at a youtube video or two, but it's not very complicated. I've had NO connection issues, and as a 20 year tech guy, I am amazed at how good the app is. Simple and intuitive. For the last 3 hours, it held my 225 degree temperature within a degree. When I opened the top of my egg so I could wrap the ribs in foil, as expected the Egg ramped up in temp from the extra air, and now it's been slowly decreasing. But from 225 the highest it hit was 240 and now it's almost back. As you probably know, there is no way to "cool" the egg, you just wait it out until it settles back in. When you take a break for the "texas crutch" there is no choice but to allow an influx of air. Otherwise, it is BEYOND my expectation since it's held within one degree all day so far.One note, is that you have to bring the Egg up close to temperature before you turn it over to the Genius. Because as good as the genius is, it doesn't know when you are starting up the coals, or just maintaining them. My target was 225 so when my dome thermometer hit about 175, I put on the Genius and turned it over to it and it brought it up to 225 and held constant for my first 2.5 hour stage of my rib technique.

This product is pure junk !!! Yes I read the reviews, and arrogantly thought "I'm sure these people just aren't very computer smart "WRONG !!!! PARK your modem , phone and egg genius within 3 ft of each other and it might work for part of the cook , but sketchy at best .The picture posted is the pit prove after a 270 degree smoke .Can't imagine what cooking temp would've done to it ?Another 400 buck donation to the Hartland Landfill .WHAT A GREAT BIRTHDAY PRESENT !

The connection with an android phone is sketch. Grabbed my Ipad and it hooks up fine. My wife bought this for me for Christmas last year and I could not immediately get it going because the adapters for the genius are for the BGE and not a Vision Grill (which is an offshoot of the Kamado Joe). I do believe that there are some KJ's that it will fit. Long story short and10 months later, I took a scrap piece of roofing metal, hammered it out flat as possible. Traced out a template from the back of input vents shown (whole thing pulls out like a drawer to empty ashes). Cut it all out with some tabs to hold it to the front, a small hole to facilitate the hatch latch, and used one of the supplied pieces of metal to cut the square hole to mount the EG. Seems to work pretty well.Get the egg up and burning, connect the genius to the pit (I use the thumb screw in the top of the Vision egg to attach to). This is close to the temp gauge in the lid and I like to use that temp instead of the grill temp.So far so good. Again, this thing seems to favor an IOS connection over and android which is a pain if that is what you have.
