My son has been using this lock for months now to secure his bike at school. Unfortunately bike theft is common at his school, so we replace his older cable lock with this model. The lock is somewhat intimidating - thieves looking for a quick theft during school hours think this lock isn't worth the effort, and so far so good.Great quality, durable in all sorts of weather, no complaints!

I have a few bikes and have had many bike locks over the years. This one is decent for the price, but like most locks they are a deterrent at best. You could have five locks on your bike and if they really want it, they will still get it. That really sucks, but unfortunately that is our reality.Anyway, this lock stands out due to the orange sleeve, but it is just medium duty chain link inside. The combination portion is fairly strong and appears to be made of mostly metal. It was very easy to change the 5-digit unlocking sequence, and I was ready to go in less than 5 minuets. I use this to lock my bike on my bike rack in addition to the one that came with the rack. When I get to the trail, I can throw this lock in my backpack and if I need to stop for the restroom or to get food, I have a visual deterrent securing my bike. I like the orange color because it is easily seen by potential thieves.I would not trust this lock to protect my bike for overnight or long-term security, but it is sufficient for a trip to the store for a quick shopping task. I wish it was a little bit longer so that I could lock both wheels, the frame and whatever metal rack I am hitching up to. Again for the money I think that it is decent bike lock, and I would recommend it....

Note that chains and combinations locks are nothing more than deterrence. While a 5-digit combination takes much time to brute force every possible combination, it can still be done if the lock is away from eyes. Similarly, any chain can be cut by the right equipment in a lonely alley. Yet, the presence of a combination lock chain is a deterrence if it will take time or draw attention to play with it.It might be a little out of purpose but I liked that this item was orange. Since it is more of a deterrent, an orange covered chain will attract more attention. Other than that, the orange cover over the chain can hide what is underneath and keep prying eyes guessing what they might need to cut the chain. I am not so sure of how clean it can stay though, while the cover seems washable, it will definitely show the dirt. The chain inside the cover seems thick and strong. The combination lock and the piece inside seem okay. What I am not so sure about is the plastic pieces on both sides of the combination. I am not sure why that part was made of plastic, and I don't know if it introduces any weakness for protection. I assume the chain inside is directly linked to the lock, so the plastic pieces would not have any function in keeping the chain locked, but still, metal would have been a much better choice. The plastic seems thick and strong, but I can bend it on its edges with my hands.Overall, it seems like a decent deterrence. The price of $27 CAD (before a 5% coupon) at the time of writing seems okay. The plastic parts are a minus, but probably not effective in the protection setup. It seems like a decent option for a combination lock with a chain.

This bike lock looks heavier duty than it probably is; meaning that it may look to the average thief like it would be a lot of work to defeat, thus providing the desired deterrent effect. It is lighter and feels less robust than similar name brand bike lock chains, and although I didn’t try using a hacksaw or bolt cutter to test it, I feel confident using it to lock up my expensive electric bike with it. I like that it has a five-digit combo, and the relatively short length and light weight makes it easier to carry and have with me all the time.

I repair old bikes and give them away to who needs them. I like to provide safety equipment as well as locks to ensure no homework is required. I like these locks because they are beefy enough that they require a targeted attach to breech, and yet are flexible enough to be easy to store. The covering on this helps prevent pinches or things getting caught. The dials are fine, nothing special. Overall, nothing to be bothered by here, and function is on point.

Quality lock that could be used for a bike or scooter, great price of $15.99 at the time of this review. Long enough, giving you plenty of room to use the variety of locations to secure your item. It’s not too heavy, and the instructions are easy to use in order to set the code for the lock. The chain is protected with a cover to keep it from the elements. Great for kids and teenagers. Definitely recommend it!

This has a heavy duty chain with a nylon bright orange sleeve to keep from scratching up the bike. This instructions were super easy on how to code the lock. I would think this is good for warmer climate as water/ice could prevent it from being used. The unit is long enough to weave the frame and front wheel onto the bike rack. I would expect this to last a good while with regular maintenance (WD-40) I would recommend for most applications. This would work well for a gate lock as well.

It's kind of hard to do particularly well or particularly poorly at making something like a bike lock. It's a fairly simple and straightforward product and should hopefully be difficult to mess up. This one is a sturdy steel chain jacketed with a tasteful black fabric sleeve. The hardest part about setting your own 5 digit combination will be deciding what numbers to use. Even without checking the instruction sheet I didn't have any trouble figuring out how to change the combination. The lock and the number dials are nice and big, which means it's easy to see and easy to use for cyclists of all ages. The lock housing and the number wheels are a tough plastic, while the lock internals seem to be made of steel. Assuming the lock is reasonably weather- and dust-proof it should be pretty durable.Operation is smooth, and the child for whom the lock was intended has so far had no trouble using it. Generally I'm skeptical of any lock that doesn't come from a known name brand. But under the circumstances I decided to take a chance on this one. The only problem here is that if it fails it's likely to create a major hassle for myself and for the child on whose bike this lock will be used. So, while this is a bit of a gamble, I have high hopes based on the overall positive first impression the product makes. Summer is coming, so I guess we'll really get a chance to see how this bike lock holds up to some heavy, real-world use.

I’ve been using this chain lock for my kids’ bikes and scooters, and I’m pretty happy with it overall. It feels sturdy enough to deter quick bike thefts, though I wouldn’t rely on it for long-term security. The chain itself is thick, and I appreciate the protective fabric cover that keeps it from rusting or scratching the bike. The orange color is a nice touch—it stands out and could make a thief think twice. It’s easy to set the 5-digit combination, which is great, and I like that it’s lightweight enough for me to throw into a backpack or carry around without hassle. However, it’s not invincible. While it seems resistant to basic theft attempts, I wouldn’t leave a high-end bike locked with it overnight. It’s more for quick stops, like when I’m popping into the store or grabbing a coffee. The length is just right for securing a bike to a post or rack, but I do wish it were a bit longer so I could lock both wheels and the frame. Still, for the price, it’s a solid, budget-friendly option that offers a bit of peace of mind.
