The most versatile level you can get. But suuupee rare. I basically bought it because it's hard to come by. I've known about this level for years but can't find it anywhere for a reasonable price. For a while this level was being sold 3rd party for like 200$ by bogus partner sites off Amazon jacking up rare B&Ditems. Finally the official B&D brought it back for it's original price. So I got it right away

Wife and I have always challenged each other hanging pictures and such with two hooks. Sorry hun it’s crooked.. not any more, the slide locators are genius..Adjust the slides on the back of what you are hanging. Hold up to wall, level it with bubbles and mark you spots.Perfect every time and no more multiple nail holes trying to get it right.Bravo B&D

I bought this because it went on sale and I needed a level. I didn't know I was getting features! This thing is great! It has this cool feature on the back with two little feet. One of them is slippery and one is rubber. The slippery feet are like buttons and after you know where you want your level aligned, you press down on the slippery feet and the rubber feet "grab" the wall so your level doesn't move! You don't press down hard, just a bit of pressure and the level won't slip around while you use your pencil. The second feature are those little round sliding buttons. My level is a little different from the picture. On my level, the bubbles are in the middle of the level like the fourth view of this level under the product. There are two sliding buttons on either side with a little x in them. Go to your painting, turn it over and if you have two hanging hooks on the paintings, line up both slides over either hook. Now you don't have to use a tape measure to find out how far apart those hooks are and then try to balance the level and the tape measure and pencil while you are up on the ladder. Without a doubt, you will drop the pencil and have to climb down the ladder and start all over. After you have climbed back up, you swear you won't drop the pencil this time but instead you drop the tape measure leaving a little gauge that will one day have to get fixed. You climb down the ladder again hoping no one is around to hear your comments. You climb back up wondering if you can balance a tape measure on your head. Finally, you have marked the spots, but they aren't level, so you have to move the level again and now you have obscured your marks and you aren't sure if the first mark was right or the second mark, so you take the tape measure off your head and oh no! You just dropped the pencil again. This level avoids all that heartache! You adjust the sliding buttons where you need your marks, press down on the level so it won't move and because of the little x in the sliding buttons, you use the pencil to mark the spot without moving the level.I read a review that someone got two of these that weren't level. Perhaps that is the reason for the design change? I tried the test that reviewer mentioned (put the level on a nearly level surface, then flip it around 180 degrees like a turntable rotation and if the bubble is in the same spot the level is level). Good news, mine is perfectly level. Thanks to that reviewer for teaching me how to check.Even though I got mine on sale, I am thinking I will buy another as a gift. Hard to get excited about a level...but this thing is cool!

This is a great level! It works wonderfully for single handed use due to the textured metal upper/lower area and the rubber pads on the back, which help to secure it to the wall while marking measurements with your other hand. It is constructed very nicely and is extremely durable, while remaining lightweight :) I don't see that it will need replacing anytime soon, even after a ton of use! It is a very large level, so make sure this is the size you will be needing...otherwise you probably won't find it to be very useful. The only downside to the level is that the sliding pieces along the middle have a fairly large gap between them when pushed all the way to the center, making it unable to measure anything that needs small spacing between it. Other than that, I absolutely love it and have used it for everything from hanging picture frames along the wall to mounting my TV. I would definitely recommend this product.

If you are reading reviews about a level, you are probably interested in whether the gimmicks add or subtract from the quality of the level. At the end of the day, if you take the Gecko Grip and Accu Mark out of the equation you are still left with a fairly priced and perfectly serviceable level.Onto the extras:Accu Mark:Why all levels don't have this I do not know. It makes complete sense when you think about it and I have found it very useful. It is limited by the width of the level (obviously) so you won't be able to use it when hanging a large picture or mirror but that is barely a criticism. I found the system enabled me to quickly and accurately hang pictures, towel bars ... the list goes on.Gecko Grip:The level has rubber on the mark to stop it slipping. That is all it is. It works, it doesn't seem to mark the wall, enough said.the only minor irritation I had with this grip is that the packaging is stuck to the level leaving sticky residue when it is removed. It is nothing that a clean with some goo gone or similar won't tackle but is a minor irritation all the same. All in all, this is a very solid level for the intermediate home improver.

My wife and I initially saw this on a TV commercial. Both of our jaws dropped. Hers because she had just spent a few weeks painting and now has to hang a few dozen pictures and shelves back up; mine because now I would not have to go back after her and fill in "mistakes" with spackle. At 3 feet, it can tackle most sized pictures and floating shelves. The beauty of this level are the sliding cross-hairs to either side of the middle. You hold the level over the item to be hung on the wall and slide the cross-hairs over the spaces where you would need nails/screws in the wall. The cross-hairs stay in place so that you can place the level on the wall and mark exactly where you need to drill/nail. The Gecko Grips are little spring-loaded, non-slip pads that help hold the level to the wall while you mark the wall through the picture guides. This was a great gift for her since he hated make me do extra work. I even like it more than getting out a tape measure, making distance marks on the wall and then leveling those marks. THIS made the process easier than easy. If you plan on doing some redecorating, add this to the list. The payoff in time alone will make up for it.
