Product Description

boat light

Why boat navigation light is important?

The primary function of marine navigation lights is to aid prevention of any major accident from happening. All boats – whether big or small are required to have night lights as a part of the navigation systems. The colour of the lights that were required to be used as specified by a set of rules passed in the UK. On the basis of this rule, three colours were chosen: red, green and white. It is the responsibility of the owner/operator of a vessel that she show the proper navigation lights for her size and the waters in which she is operating. It is not the responsibility of the manufacturer, importer, or selling dealer. Many boats are delivered with lights that do not meet legal requirements with respect to technical characteristics or placement on the vessel. Remember also, that the angles of visibility must be met when the boat is underway-if your boat rides at a significant bow-up angle, take that into consideration when installing and/or checking your lights.

I installed these on the bow of my Cape Dory 27 March 2024. They are just as bright as any marine grade nav lights out there. They Survived Hurricane Barrel, they are the same size as the original equipment so they fit right on the old pedestals, I was impressed with the materials and the build quality, they were easy to install, they work well with the LEDs not taxing the system.. they look just like the originals.

I hope the manufacturer sees this review, because I'm about to improve their product, while saving them THOUSANDS on production. These little lights are not a bad deal at all. They are cheaply made, but also fairly well made. I don't doubt that the chrome covers will rust in short order, but as long as they're still burning, I could care less about a little rusting. Time will tell. The LED panel is glued into the base, and should be a very sturdy light. The reason, I'm a bit dismayed, is because the LED panel that is sitting behind a colored lens, IS ALSO COLORED. In other words, the light behind the Green lens is a panel of GREEN LEDs, as is the red side. Not only would I imagine that colored LEDs are more expensive, I would think that colored lenses are, as well. Using clear LEDS behind a colored lens would certainly produce a brighter light and cost less to produce, as would using a clear lens with colored LEDs.Other than that, I'm happy with the lights, and have already mounted them on my jon boat.

These are bright led navigation lights. Easy to install, the directions say the red wire is positive and black negative. But, these come with white and black, so just use the white in place of red. Mine only came with one pack of 3 screws instead of 2 packs. They have a stainless steel housing and they are waterproof.
