No way it is rated for 3500 lbs. Strap broke after 4 uses. And already shows signs of rust. Of course it's past my return date. Absolute waste of money. Save time and hassle and buy something else. This product is junk.

I replaced my rusted and worn trailer crank with this one and wow! I’m not sure if it’s the gear ratio or what but loading my boat is sooo much easier. The strap is strong and way longer than I could imagine needing. I really like it being black because my old one was so rusted, I’d imagine this one will look new for way longer. Installation was easy as it bolted right in place of my old one.

I am redoing an old boat trailer and replaced the old, rusty original winch with this XPV winch. Plenty of rope for loading up the boat and has more than enough pulling capacity for my needs. Seems to be well constructed too.

This winch is probably a little bit overkill for my 20' boat, but I LOVE how easily it pulls it onto my trailer. It ratchets in both directions, which can really help on some problem boat ramps. The handle is heavy and long enough to provide good leverage. The ad says that the surface is "zinc black plating". I don't know how that compares to galvanizing, and only time will tell. But the black surface is strong, unlike a number of other items I've gotten lately where it flaked off.For me, the holes lined up perfectly so installation was a breeze. I started to use my old bolts, but decided to install some new stainless ones. It comes without instructions, but I can't imagine why you would need any. Yes, you have to attach the handle, but I've had to do that with every winch I've ever gotten. I don't know how you could possibly get it wrong.

Received/Ordered this XPV Auto Boat Trailer Winch 3500lbs w/Strap 33 ft with hook - When removing from box, first observed the "heavy weight build" and the rigid type design and smooth hook and quality strap. I actually ordered this winch for my boat trailer, but after receiving, instead of trailer, after seeing how this beast is made/built, I am installing this on my equipment trailer to use for winching my trenching machines if/when they break down as well as any other HD items need pulled upon my trailer. It's made of carbon steel, heat treated gears, and has a nice black powder coated finish. I also like the "two way" movement gears, pulling or releasing weight and two speed gear build. The instructions are pretty vague and no bolts for bolting it onto trailer, but pretty simple as install the handle and nut, and it's plug & play, . Please note that I have saw some other not so good of reviews, and concerned me, but also see/realized their reviews are for a 1200 Lb winch?.. Please note this is a 3,500 Lb winch, this should easily pull/roll my 3,400 Lb tractor upon my trailer. This is why I am installing on equipment trailer instead of boat. I will get a smaller duty one for my fishing boat. I gave this 5 stars because of the rigid build design, quality and strength. I would recommend this winch

If you look at the picture here, this helps ALOT when putting it together. When you get it, the handle is not attached.Instructions say nothing about it and there are no pictures, but you'll be looking at two shafts that are identical. I figured it out my noticing the gear ratio, but I put the square washer and nut together on the wrong side. The two shafts I guess are the same because they saved money by not having another shaft made that was the correct length? At any rate use the picture here and you'll be fine. I am on the fence about cutting the other shaft off at the housing. Well see, I haven't decided.Everything functions as it should, and its priced reasonably. My boat doesn't need one, but I am going to mount this to my atv. The applications are endless!Though if you are like me you'll have to find your own mounting hardware, since it didn't include any nuts or bolts.(shouldn't they though? How do they know your old ones aren't rusted and someone get killed and then they get blamed for it? I don't know, I'm not a lawyer...)((I reserve 5 star for exceptional products, that said I will report back if there are any issues or short life span.))

I got this to pull cars and tractors onto my equipment trailer and it works fine for that. It comes without the handle on it, and you put the handle on the front shaft for low speed, rear shaft for high. I like the flat strap better than a rope, it stays small on the spool for better torque. I haven't had any trouble with mine, it is built tough!
