This is a counter-example to “You get what you pay for”. The steel the feathers are made of is too soft, and they deform easily. I later bought a set of the cheap mass-produced Chinese wedge-and-feathers and they hold up to abuse far better.

These are key to removing big rocks by splitting them down to movable chunks. This old school but really works well. Remember to by more than just one, 5 is good number to start with.

These Splitter sets have been around for decades. They are also called “Plug and Feathers” and they work very well splitting large rocks.

Product was delivered quickly and seems OK quality, already split a few stones and they work as they should.

I had a rock buried 16 inches under ground that was 24" x 14" x 9". Naturally it was right where I needed to put the last post for my new Pergola. Tried a lot of things until I read about "Feathers and Wedges" (what the tool I am reviewing is called in many places). So I bought 4 sets to span my stone and rented a hammer drill to drill 4 holes. Put the wedges in and after probably 35 light taps on each one in succession- Voila! The stone split right where I needed and wanted, clean as a whistle. My only issue is I now have $50.00 worth of tools that I may never need again!

Yup works exactly like a wedge. Used it to break up 3, 500 pound rocks.

They work but the feathers are poor quality, your local landscaping store should sell better ones at half the cost..at least mine does.

One single wedge. It is big, so, for breaking a large stone, one could order several of these and they should work great. I should have ordered a multi pack of smaller wedges for what I had in mind.

I purchased these to break apart and split large granite boulders in my yard. I have never done this before and was skeptical. My rocks were 6-8 feet in diameter. I drilled holes about 8 inches apart hit these wedges in and the rock easily split. I could not believe how easy it was to do this. I split it and split it again and again into pieces small enough to pick up. These have been a very cost effective way to get the job done.
