All I can say is WOW! I did not want to spend the money on a brand new bosch hammer for residential use and opted to save some good cash for a renewed one instead and I don't regret it at all. I received a totally brand new metal case to keep the hammer into, it was absolutely clean (upon disassembly it only had a tiny amount of cement dust in the brush area but it was totally acceptable). You even get a print out of the OEM instruction manual and a little tube of silicone to lubricate the tool you insert into the hammer.First, I went with this from using a dewalt cordless drill/driver with hammer function and I burned the dewalt one out after a few years but I gave it a hell of a beating. I figured having a hard wired hammer drill would outlast any of my use and I think I am right in thinking this.I so far have drilled countless holes, demolished 6" of my cement sidewalk, pounded in 8' ground rods, tamped gravel/stone/dirt and did not feel stressed about the jobs. For personal reference, I bought a SDS-Max to sds-plus adapter to use smaller drill bits with this hammer and you need to turn down the speed on the hammer or you will destroy the drill bit. I went through 3 3/16" drill bits before my brain clicked in and told me to try turning down the speed as I was always going full bore on the speed and kept cracking the tip off the drill bits that were small and meant for a sds-max style hammer. The ground rods were hammered into extremely clay filled and stone filled ground with no problem.I chiseled out a 6"x10' section of 2" thick cement and was at it for over an hour and a half before I finished and the hammer was definitely stressed and very hot but it worked through it like a champ and didn't skip a beat.I also tamped over 45' of ground with stones, sand and dirt to help pack in a trench hole I dug out for electrical conduit. All in all this is one beast of a tool and I would not tell anyone to discount this being a refurbished tool as it is as great as a brand new tool for a fraction of the price.

I was wondering is a D handle would be more ergonomic. I worry about the reviews on this unit, as some have indicated the unit just stop working and sometimes its the brushes and sometimes its not. Bosch has made some really great tools. I own the router, several impact, screw and drills. I like the 12 max volt drilll driver and impact driver because it can drive 3 inch screws easily, small, compact and light. What they are missing is the 3.5 inch csaw and oscillating tool that makita has. As this is for the rotary hammer, so far it runs well. Only time will tell if this unit becomes problematic. If it does, I will replace with a makita.

This reconditioned from the factory tool was a great deal. Looked like it had never been used! I used a 1.25" inch bit into solid limestone and drilled 30" bit hole in ~ 30 minutes. The drill met every one of my expectations. I had no idea what was under the top soil but knew I had rock. Turns out, at least 30+ inches. I only need to drill that far othrwise the bit and the whole idea would have been a waste.

This rotary hammer by Bosch has plenty of power that can do the job quickly. I truly recommend this Bosch RH540MRT rotary hammer SDS MAX. To be a reconditioned power tool it came out the box looking brand new and never used and I am very happy for that. I will get back with you in six months of some good heavy use and I will give you my full review then.
