I like how it portable and easy to use quality is alright It a bit louder than my other Lavalier Wireless mic but the quality isn't all that different the bad part is that it won fully fit with. case on my case is very thin and you still need to talk it off to fully fit in but it does come with a mic cover which is good but it a bigger than I expected result: decent budget wireless microphone, quality alright,

I am looking to do some outdoor videos which will need decent quality sound. The built in microphone on my iPhone is not up to the task. There are two major issues. While the sound volume and quality is fine for sources near the iPhone, One the sound pickup quickly drops off as the source of the sound moves away from the phone. In addition, for the outdoors, the wind noise is noticeable in all except the calmest conditions. This sent me looking for a better solution.While there are plenty of high quality solutions available, I wanted a portable, easy to use, and low investment solution. This is why I targeted the Boya BY-P4D omnidirectional microphone. First, its size of less than the width of my iPhone made it easy to stow away in any pocket until it was needed. Second, to use it all I needed to do was pop it in my phone's lightning port. Third, it came with a wind screen included.In testing, I discovered a few of things. The 90 degree joint made it easy to point the microphone in the same direction as the camera lense maximizing the sounds pickup. The microphone did a great job of picking up sound even when the source was 10-20 yards away from the microphone which was what I needed. The final discovery was a little frustrating. I initially tested the microphone, but could not get any sound playback. After a few frustrating minutes trying different apps and troubleshooting, I realized the issue was having the microphone plugged into the phone during playback. When the microphone is plugged in the normal external speakers are shutdown, just as when your wired earpods are plugged into the phone. After unplugging the microphone during playback everything worked great. Just be aware of this caveat when you use the microphone to avoid extreme frustration.This microphone will not replace a dedicated podcast type system when you are looking for premium sound capture, but for good quality sounds on the go it is a great solution.

Unfortunately I did not realize prior to ordering that the microphone will not allow for interactive use, like with a phone call. My intent was with the hobby of amateur radio communications. The mic itself offers good value as a mic but to listen to anything recorded you must remove the mic. So with 2way radio, only slightly better than nothing. I was using it in an iPad. I will be returning it.

I am very happy with this small but useful mic. I plugged it into my iPhone and it worked instantly. Very good pickup, quality construction. The reviews were right!
