Exact OEM part for Broan-Nutone Model 765HFL-A. Be advised that it doesn't come with any instructions, but there are several videos available on Broan-Nutone's YouTube channel on how to disassemble and replace parts on their various models of bathroom fans. If you can't find your specific model on their YouTube channel, you should be able to find a video from a similar model that often times will have an identical design. In our case, the replacement was fairly quick and relatively easy.

This OEM part works great. I previously bought a lower priced generic version which did not produce the same amount of heat. Avoid the generic and get this OEM part instead.

As a heater element in the bathroom fan

The heater portion of my Broan Nutone bathroom fan/light/heater stopped working in fewer than 6 months after the unit was installed and i had gone without the heater for a few years. I always suspected that a fuse had probably gone bad because heaters do use significant electrical power to operate. After deciding to see if i could rectify the problem, i checked YouTube to see if there was a video of fixing the heater. I did find a couple of videos and, after watching, decided i could handle the repair myself. I also read the reviews here on Amazon and saw that heaters for my unit were a huge problem, burning out frequently - with the assertion being made that the soldered fuse (which was castigated for being soldered rather than easily replaced by most people - which would make repair easy and far less costly) was set to fail when the temperature exceeded a certain threshold - something that seemed to occur frequently, especially if the heater was left on too long. Knowing that i like warm bathrooms for taking shower, i bought a 3-pack of replacement heaters in case they stop being made. Once my replacement heater arrived, i finished taking out the old heater unit and replacing it with this new one. Voila!! I now have heat. The work of replacing the heater was not entirely simple but not bad. I am not a really mechanical person but have made a few repairs in my time and the few problems i encountered with this repair were not too difficult to figure out how to proceed. I now not only have heat but also have a clean unit because i took the time to clean everything while making the repair. Having made the repair successfully and having 2 spares will hopefully make sure i have heat in the bathroom for a long time, especially if i don't leave the heat on for long periods of time.My initial problem was figuring out what make and model of fan/light/heater i had. I was unable to figure out how to get the cover off to look inside. The YouTube video showed me that. Even after i took the cover off, i was unable at first to find out the model number but eventually found that it was stamped on the plastic light cover. The stamp is the same color as the cover so it took holding it up to the light to find it. There is nothing inside the unit that remains in the ceiling when the cover is off that gives the make and model, which led me to look more closely at the cover and eventually find my information. I was using a short ladder (3') with no platform for tools or screws, which made the repair job trickier. Except for that, unplugging and replugging the electrical connections was very easy and cannot be done improperly.

Our blood runs cold (we live in the Northeast where the winters are cold) and we always use our little ceiling heater in the bathroom to warm the room up before showering as well as during showers to stay warm. After about seven years of running like a champ our heater in the bathroom broke and started blowing cold air (just in time for a cold spell that was coming in). Our ceiling unit works both as a bathroom fan as well as heater. The fan survived but the heat was shot.We called my boyfriend's friend who is in the construction business and he quoted us several hundred dollars to replace the unit!! We looked into replacing the unit ourselves, and the fan/heat unit ran at least $150 (minus any labor if we were unable to install it ourselves). Hence came in this little guy at just $29.69! My boyfriend installed it in less than 15 minutes, and we have been using it daily for three weeks now and it is running great!!My only qualm is that we paid extra money to receive next day delivery and it still took about 4 or 5 days to show up.... so we continued to freeze our tuckus off each time we had to undress to wash.

The new part I received was packaged properly, looked exactly the same as the original. Fitting and connection was the same. It could be fault in the unit, how the fuse is sized and also partially fault of the overall design of the NuTone fan. After replacing the heating element, I tested the unit, it blow hot air. It was working as expected. Then the fan/heater was used the next day during cold morning. At some point, it must have started blowing cold air, but since the bathroom was already warn, I did not notice this. The next morning it I noticed it started blowing cold air. The heating element did not heat up anymore, after closer inspection it did not look like it was damaged anywhere. The built in fuse may have blown, but there is no way to replace it. I wish they designed the unit with replacable fuse. I choose not replace the heating element again, didn't want to go through it again. I hate returning anything after buying it.Based on my experience I will not buy this type of heater again, I am thinking the proper design for this type of heater should be to toggle the heating element ON and OFF with timer relay, so it does not overheat and burn it self out, just like how most of the electric heaters work. Or use a different type of heating element which is more reliable when it remains ON for a long time. I plan to replace the whole unit but will do more research before buying the new unit.
