This tool works exactly as described and it is a joy to use. Do you need a precision machine anodized billet aluminum tool to complete this task? Absolutely not. Is it kind of fun yes.

This tool has a really solid look and feel. I used it to trim and attach the end of a pre-cut brake housing that was way too long, and this did the job well.

I picked this up to use in installing the hydraulic brakes on my new bike project, and it is super easy to use. It's made from solid aluminum so it feels sturdy in the hand, and the finish is smooth so there's no binding in any of the screws. The included line cutter is useful and the blade is sharp, but protected, so it works well when in use but you'd have to try hard to cut yourself with it. The extra pin and plastic case for the whole thing are nice, as this helps keep everything together and gives you a backup pin in case it gets bent.

I like beautiful tools, and this is one of those.I needed this tool to upgrade my Tektro M275s to a Shimano Deore XT 4 Piston Set.I ordered new hoses as i was transferring the brakes from another bike to my new custom bike and those hoses were kind of kinked to the shape of the past donor frame/bike and i wanted to make new oil lines to the correct length as well.Cutting the hoses/lines was a breeze with the guillotine on this tool, i own a cable cutter but that one pinches the line a little bit compared to the clean cut made by this tool.Inserting the barb was simple and precise, much better than other rudimentary methods that end up in a mess and waste of time.Overall i am super satisfied with the tool, while it may not see use for a while, with its 30% coupon (at the time of the review) around $20+Tax this is definitely cheaper than having it done at the shop, and keep a beautiful tool for future adjustments or upgrades, recommended!

If you've ever tried to run a hydraulic brake line on a bike without the proper tools, you might know where this tool would come in handy. If not for the proper tools, you might resort to cutting the brake hose with a razor blade or cable cutters, neither of which methods will leave a straight, tidy cut. Then you would take the hose holder block things and clamp them in pliers as hard as you can while trying to delicately but firmly hammer the barb into the end of the hose. Not the smoothest operation. This tool takes care of the whole process. The hose cutter allows you to hold the hose still and get a nice, clean cut in one motion. The barb driver makes easy work of inserting the barb. It pushes the barb in with constant, stable pressure, relieving you of having to try to awkwardly get it in with a hammer. There really is no substitute if you plan on doing any sort of involved brake maintenance at home.As for this specific model, it is entirely made of metal and has a good heft to it. The handles rotate smoothly and are satisfying to turn. Everything is aligned properly. I like that it comes with a spare barb driver head. Really happy with this all-in-one tool and excited to keep it on hand in the bike toolbox.

It feels nice and solid. Everything moves nice and smooth. I got this for the cutter mostly, hahaha. I have trouble cutting the tubes and wires, this works great! It doesn't cut the wires, but the tubes! I couldn't imagine trying to do hydraulic without a tool like this!

Excellent tool for making or cutting your own brake hoses. I upgraded to hydraulic brakes on my folding ebike(that I never fold) and while the length of the front hose was fine, the precut hose for the rear brakes ended up being a little shorter than I liked after the somewhat convoluted path it had to take and even then it didn't leave enough length to fold the bike if I needed to for some reason. So right away I was thinking I would like to run new hose to the rear caliper and since I have 2 of these bikes. These bikes are my first experience with disk brakes for bikes and the pugrade is my first experience with hydraulic disk brakes for bikes, so I can't compare the tool with any others. Maybe I didn't need to get a tool for just the two brake hoses, but I am a tinkerer and it didn't take long for me to start in on upgrading these bikes, so they won't be my last project. I look at tools as an investment and who knows when it will pay off. I doubt I will ever have an issue with this well-built tool. It would have been nice if it had come with some tubing ends and olives just to get started,, but since I'm not cutting down my tubing I'm going to have to get lengths of hose anyway.
