Product Description

Automotive: Used in older-model cars, glass tube fuses today are found primarily in automotive accessory applications. Appliances & Consumer Electronics: Glass and ceramic tube fuses are often used to protect appliances and consumer electronics. As electronic equipment becomes smaller, the circuits and components become more delicate and easily damaged. Fuses are the preferred method of protection due to their accuracy, small size and reliability. Fuses are available in a wide variety of amp ratings to provide precise protection. Generally, two sizes of user-replaceable fuses are found: the 1/4-Inch x 1-1/4-Inch and 5mm x 20mm. Each is available in a variety of volt and amp ratings. There are two basic types of fuses available for appliances and consumer electronics: fast-acting or time-delay. Any replacement fuse must match the one it's replacing. In general, fast-acting fuses are a single strand of wire or strip of metal. Time-delay fuses usually have a coiled wire, a thick element wrapped in wire, or a spring. Most electronic fuses will have the voltage and amp rating stamped on the end cap. The type of fuse can generally be visually identified. Also, owner's manuals will have the correct replacement fuse generically identified.

The first two photos show the comparison of my two separate fuse purchases. The Home Depot purchase is on the left. The last photo shows the lights I used the fuse I am writing this review of. The difference between the two should have alerted me to beware and you can see the result.

I didn't think to take a picture of the package. It was a split tiny zipper bag inside of a small piece of bubble wrap. Given the issues with poor quality fuses that Louis Rossmann showed on his YouTube channel, I can't say for sure that these are real Bussmann fuses. I have to trust that they really will blow at 5 amps and not too much higher.Always a risk with on line ordering.

Just buying one is expensive from a traditional store, so I bought 5 for the price of one with this great deal. I have some outdoor christmas decorations that require these cartridge fuses with this size and amperage. I feel I got a good deal. I know you can get these fuses easily from stores during the holiday season at a good deal but I bought these in summer trying to get some chores done and these took care of it then and there.

Works fine, until you need to change it again. Those fuses usually pop if there is a small surge in voltage. Thankfully they are inexpensive enough, and it does not happen too often. It should now happen even less often as I have replaced the bulb with an LED.

It's a fuse. Does exactly what its suppose to do. No constant blow outs for no reason. Holding up well outdoors. Have had a lot of rain and still going strong. Make sure you have the correct size for replacement. If not, then thats your fault.

I used this in an extension cord for my Christmas Village. The cord has 9 plug ins and am glad I could purchase these. I cannot find another cord with that many plugs on one extension!
