Trying to work on redoing some dining room chairs with cane in them. It's not easy, but got some help and this tool is good for taking the spline out and cleaning out the spline.

it worked so much better than trying to clean grove with a screw diver you always need the right tool to do job right and not damage other parts and finishes.

I needed a 3/16 and they only sell a 1/4 thru Amazon. This is my first project and there is no way to tell ahead of time. The product itself is exactly what is needed except for the width. It does the job but with a whole lot more work.

This chisel made a BIg difference when caning my chairs!!! I started the project without a caning chisel, then ordered one!! Not that the job was easy using the chisel but it did make getting the old spline out a lot faster!!

The chisel, as disclosed in description of product, was used to re-cane the bentwood rocker seat and back. When removing the original caning from frames it was invaluable for the work required , This type of chisel made the work easier and faster , and worth the money .
