Does the job just fine. Using it to drive an ultra wide monitor off a thunderbolt port on a core ultra 2 motherboard.

Pros:- It supports the latest DisplayPort 2.1 output, so it works for high bandwidth video signals, including high refresh rate monitors for gaming. I tested it with a 4k @ 240 hz monitor and it worked great.- I had no issues with the connection. No lag, stuttering, or dropped signal.- The physical construction feels quite good. The connectors have a nice metal housing, the ports are clicky and feel secure when connected, and the short plastic cable feels durable.Cons:- None.Current title: Cable Matters 80Gbps USB C to DisplayPort 2.1 Adapter, 16K@60hz, 8K@240hz, 4K@960Hz and HDR Support - Thunderbolt 5/4, USB4 Compatible with VR Headset, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, XPS, Surface Pro

I take my laptop back and forth to work. The laptop only has HDMI ports, so when I am home I needed an adapter for DisplayPort. This DP 2.1 adapter has worked perfectly, allowing me to easily connect with whatever monitor/cord I am presented with. Great addition to any notebook bag!

It really does provide a 80Gbps DP2.1 signal. Another stellar product by Cable Matters. Not just some white label product. Great depending on your circumstance--I wouldn't recommend this adapter to literally anyone other than maybe people with absolutely remarkable displays, or people who would rather get one quality product and use that over several cheap white label products.

I'm personally a fan of the brand, I use them because they were decided on as the only choice for cables at a VR prototype design and production lab for FRL when I worked there some years ago. This adapter came in very handy for me at a new job site. It didn't work when connected downstream of a reliable portable dock, but that's likely a design limitation and not a deficiency. When plugged directly into my MacBook Pro, it worked immediately.

To start, it's a bit disingenuous of me to review thee adapter without a way to confirm that it lives up to its technical specifications. I certainly do not have an 8k, 10 bit color depth screen lying around. I'd be impressed if my laptop graphics card if it even supported that display mode. That being said, I will offer opinions on what I can fairly.First, yes, it works, it works quite well. It seamlessly connected a modern P14s Thinkpad running windows 11 to a 30 inch LG 4K monitor. If it couldn't do that, would be shocked, but it did, and did so quickly and without any issues. Here are my complaints:1. The metal (aluminum I suspect) housing rattles like an maraca. The actual female DP plug fits very loosely inside the housing. For a 35 dollar device, I would expect a matching build quality. It does feel like you're paying just for first adopter privileges and nothing else.2. The description of the cable says it is in a woven sheath. This is incorrect, it's in a standard TPE sheath with small strain protectors at either end. The pictures do show it with a TPE sheath, and I expect the description was taken from an earlier model, which did have a braided sheath. It's fine, the cable is fine, again, I just expected a bit more.

This is a plug and play device so you just plug everything in and it just works. If only plug and play worked this nicely years ago. This marvelous little USB C to DisplayPort adapter can go all the way up to an incredible 16K@60hz! I'm afraid I don't have the means to test it to its full potential, but it's good to know that it has all of that extra capacity so it will be more future proof than many other adapters. The only down side is that to achieve such extremely high resolutions, at such high bit rates, it must use compression, which will negatively affect picture quality. However, this won't be an issue for me because I never intend to push it past 4K@240Hz, and at this resolution and refresh rate, it won't need to use compression to operate within it's maximum 80Gbps bandwidth limit. These little adapters are great for plugging into your laptop so you can use your TV or computer monitor as a primary or secondary screen. As cheaply as these can be obtained these days, it would probably be a good idea for everyone with a laptop computer to have one of these on hand for when you might need it.
