I had never seen a magnetic knife block like this before, but while looking to replace my 31 year old knife set and block, I came across this magnetic knife holder and thought it might work better because it seemed like it would take up less usable counter space. When it arrived, I was first shocked by the weight of the box. I thought for sure there must be something else in there but it was just this beautiful wooden block wrapped in plastic, on a simple but elegant metal stand, already assembled, and instructions. That was it. I threw my old block out of the way and set my new block up in its place and thought, "Just wow! This is a thing of beauty!" It looks so great on my counter, I almost didn't want to add knives. I did though...the nicest ones I had and I swear it looked almost like a work of art. Both of my kids, who notice almost nothing new in our house, noticed it first thing when they walked in the kitchen. My usually stoic 19 year old son said "That's cool." When I originally saw the price, I couldn't imagine how a knife block could be worth that, but having it now, in my kitchen, holding my best knives, I was so wrong. Totally worth it!!

In comparison to my previous magnetic knife block, the only thing that’s really a drawback is the block itself isn’t as thick as my old one which makes getting the knife handles a little bit tricky because they’re so close to the knives on the opposite side of the block I don’t have a lot of counter-space and the one I had before Stood at a 90° angle straight up and down so it made my limited counter space in my low cabinets tricky that’s why I got this one with the diagonal angle so that I could push it back underneath my kitchen cabinets and still be able to access my knives. The one I am comparing it to was a made in branded knife block that was 1.5 in thick. this block is only 1in thick. Also the magnets are strong but maybe too strong? I say this because I’ve scratched the finish pilling a knife off with a really sharp point. It’s not as much of an issue with more blunt ended knives like my bread knife or narkari.

This is a wonderful knife holder. I had another magnetic one that I really liked but my two heavier knives would not stay on that one, the magnet just was not strong enough. This one is amazing! I have items on both sides - even my scissors (which also did not work on my other one). This one holds anything metallic. There is no assembly on this stand and it takes so little space. I really love that it leans at an angle, it makes grabbing the knives easier, no matter which side you have them on. The silver stand is permanently attached, making this extra sturdy. The Acacia wood is stunning! so gorgeous, smooth and heavy. One complaint - and not about the product, it's about the manufacturer. They put a large glue sticker right on the wood - not a peelable one, but a nasty, overly sticky one that covered a good portion of one side. This is the side I wanted to display, having it lean away from the wall. But why did they have to put it on the wood!! You can't scrape it off, (I didn't want scratch the thing before I even used it). I spent more than an hour trying to get that glue off, it was so frustrating. I kept asking myself why they didn't use those non sticky types that just peel away - or stick it on the bottom - or better yet, just include a pamphlet!! all it had on it were instructions about how to not injure yourself. If it had more information, I will never know it b/c it would not peel off, it came off in shreds. I had to use water, then soap, then I used oil and a scrubber, then even window cleaner!! I tell you, it was maddening.Thankfully I did finally get it all, it's still a little tacky but I will try later to get that off. It is so lovely, I can't take off any stars for the product. They just need to do a better job at documentation included with it. This would make a wonderful wedding gift, it's so much better than the traditional knife block.

Gorgeous knife block with great weight and design. There aren't many angled magnetic knife block options and finding one that fits my aesthetics was challenging. This one is perfect because I needed it to fit under my cabinets, while also being easily accessible. Eventually I plan on replacing my current slicing knife with a 10-12". Therefore, I needed a block that was large enough to accommodate the long blade. The magnets are strong. They can hold my large, heavy German knives (Zwilling Pro) without any issue. They magnets may be a hair too strong, but due to the weight of the block it does not move.It looks like it can hold up to 10 knives, but that will get pretty crowded. It will eventually impact your experience with grabbing the correct handle. IMO, a home chef should not have that many knives anyway. 5 knives makes sense, even with knife sharing preferences with your partner. I currently have: - Zwilling Pro 7" Chef (my personal workhorse, smaller length for my wife) - Tojira DP 6.5" Santoku (on order, and my wife's preferred style and length) - Zwilling Pro 5.5" Rocking Santoku (when I rock chop) - Looking to get a new 10-12" slicing knife - 9" bread knifeAll in all, I am really happy with this knife block. I just wish the Maple was the same price at the time I ordered. Both look beautiful, but Maple is my preferred wood.
