Perfect for removing old spline. Makes the job much easier without damaging the wood or finish surrounding the groove. I wish I had bought it sooner before I worked on the first chair.

Works great. Could be helpful to have the handle changed in a way that the grip orients the blade in a known direction. As it is when the chisel end is obscured by cane, there is no way to know which way the chisel edge is pointing.

used for cleaning a caned chair grove, great for the tight spots. This has a slight upward curve to get under the old caning material

I offered to recane four chairs for a friend. It was a first time DIY experience for me. I tried to do the task with tools that I had improvised, without success.Get this tool. Follow the instructions provided by the seller. Maybe review a couple of how-to videos on YouTube. Then the task is tedious but relatively simple with this tool on hand. Most of the debris, in my project, was removed with this tool alone. I did not use a tap hammer on the tool much at all. Hand pressure, while sometimes rocking the chisel point edge to edge, took out most of the debris quite nicely.
